WISHES

*Click to hear a terrific Elvis Medley*

Of all the things there are in life
There's always something missing.
Like peace and love and happiness
So we always end up wishing.

Now, you can wish to become real famous
To have money to buy exotic things.
Like cars and rock-duds and a fancy house
And then one day the telephone rings.

You pick up the receiver, "Hello" you say
And from there it was all uphill.
Now look at you, your wish came true
You're a star in your duds and frill.

Now everything's fine but you still do whine
'Cause for you it's just a little thing.
So you wish and you wish and you wish real hard
And then one day the telephone rings.

You pick up the receiver, "Hello" you say
In your voice there's a quiverin' touch.
Now look at you, your wish came true
You're more famous but not by much.

So you keep on wishing and wishing and wishing
'Till you make it to the top of the crowd.
Now look at you, your wish came true
You're the best and you're mighty proud.

But then one day as you relax by your pool
You realize there's something missing
Like peace and love and happiness
So you close your eyes and start wishing.

But you're in too deep and you're beginning to drown
'Cause your fans and your money keep comin'
You say "God help me please!" and you get down on your knees
And you beg for some peace and lovin'.

Only now you're stuck and you're outta luck
'Cause your wishin' just won't come true.
You got your fans and you got your money
And you got too greedy, so now look at you.

Of all the things there are in life
There's always something missing
Like peace and love and happiness
So we close our eyes and start wishing.

Now, you can wish to become real famous
To have money to buy exotic things
Like cars and rock-duds and a fancy house
And then one day...the telephone rings.
