Learning in a World of Coldness
And so innocent. ~~~~~~~ One day in the underground parking lot The little girl was playing Somewhere inside the gun went off Somewhere outside Mommy was praying
Not quite sure of what she feared When the men in blue suits got to the place The man with the gun had disappeared
And confused. ~~~~~~~~ One day her and friend were coming home from school They sat on a curb to talk Three older girls walked up to her friend And beat her with fists like a rock
To get to her friend's mom and dad But an older girl who ran after her Started hitting her and said she was bad
And so mad. ~~~~~~~~~ The little girl grew up awful fast And reached the era of teens She started partying and dating some guys Wore T-shirts and ass tight bluejeans
The killing; the cruelness of men The bloodshed; the tears and the pain The fact that she couldn't be six again... ~~~~~~~~~ ...Six years old and so innocent. Cathy Roy Mar/'83
