August 15th 1999-Union Square San Francisco, CA

DIIINNNGGG!! On August 15th at 4:00am, that's the sound I woke up to (the alarm). I was so excited that I didn't care about waking up at that hour. I ran in the other room to wake up Kristee and Ariana. Ariana's first word was "already"?But they were excited. By 4:30, we were all up. Kristee took a bath, and me and Ariana washed our hair in the sink. We then got dressed, wearing our matching Moffatt Tour T-Shirts with Moffatt stickers and "ROOTS" jackets. We were ready by 6 or 6:30. The only thing stopping us was mom. She didn't want to get downtown that early. So, at about 7:45, we were off to Union Square in San Francisco. I wore my crown THE WHOLE WAY THERE. I felt like a goof, but oh well. We got there at 8:00am. Mom parked, and we walked to the park like fully equiped Moffatt fans. We were wearing our crowns, and carrying our banners. As we were walking up, I could feel people staring at us. Although, there were only about 7 other people when we got there. I was soo excited cause I was a nervous wreck thinking there'd already be HUNDRED'S of people. Anyway, these girls said "Oh look..Its the Moffatt Queens". I was kinda embarrassed. Mom asked them how long they had been there (since they were wraped in a blanket sitting on the bench). One of them said "Since 2am". God..and we thought WE woke up early. So we wait around, wait around..it gets to be about noon. We see their Roadies un-loading all their instruments. Their dad, Frank, was also there. We were freakin' out yelling his name, but he was totally ignoring us. Some girls on the other side were yelling at him.."Mr. Moffatt! Frank! Frank!! You're so cute! Nice shoes." He looked at them and smiled and said "Thanks". He was up there for like two hours setting things up. Then, this girl comes up to me. She says "Are you Randee"? I said "Yeahhhh" She said "Oh! Hi! Im Laila...from AOL"! I said "Oh HI!!!" And we talked and stuff...then she introduced me to her sister, who I talked to on-line also. So we talked most the time while waiting. It was soo neat, I asked how they knew it was me and they said from my pictures I sent them! It was sooooo weird...It was like I was famous cause I met SO many people I talked to online there. It was just weird! A little while later, we saw Frank squatting over on the side of the stage talking to some people. I said to mom "We're going to be over there..Im gunna go see if we can get our picture taken with him". So we walked over there. He was talking to a few people, and we were watching him. I was freaking out basically! I then froze...I didnt know how to call him. FRANK or MR. MOFFATT..I know that sounds rediculous, but Im weird I guess. I didnt know if it would sound rude if we called him FRANK cause we didnt even know him, but yea yea..Im an idiot! haha I saw Sheila back in the tent thingy backstage with their dog..Little Ms Moffatt. I really didn't see the dog, just the moving leash! haha I saw this older guy there that was talking to Frank. I asked him if his name was Dan...he said "No, Troy". I said "Ohh, okay. Are you the one that runs the Official Home Page"? He said "Yep". I said "Ohh, okay"...then we just kinda stood there like idiots. He said "I was kinda hoping you'd tell me who you were". I felt like an idiot (once again). I said "Im sorry! Im Randee" and Ariana and Kristee said their names. I asked him if he went to the "Hang Time" taping. He said "No", but he said he went to the Roxy. I said "We wanted to go to that, but we had to come home that day and we were all crying". He said "Just one more night"? I said "Yea, thats what we were sayin, but it didnt work". Ariana asked if we could sit down in the reserved seating for Macy's employee's and he said "I dont know whats happening with that, but if I find out anything about that, I'll letcha know". He then asked us if we posted Messages on the message board. I said "Sometimes". He said, "Are you on of the trouble makers"? I said "Noo"...he just laughed. So we said Bye to him and went back over to mom, and said "Come take our picture with him". She laughed and said "Fine, but you'll have to ask". We said "Okay!!" So we went over to him again, and I said "Could we have our picture taken with you"? He laughed and said "What did I do to deserve this"? Mom said "Arent you lucky"?! And then mom said "So it's okay"? He said "Oh sure". So we took our picture. We all thanked him again and went back over to where we were standing. When about 2 o'clock rolled around, the lady announced that they were coming out for a sound-check in a couple minutes and for everyone to calm down. As if we were going to!! haha Anyway, a roadie came out and was talking into each of the microphones sayin', "Bob's Vocals..Clint's Vocals".."S Vocals...S Vocals".."Dave Vocals...Dave Vocals", "Frank Vocals..Frank Vocals". This guy had an English acent and as you can imagine, everyone was screaming through that..including me! At about 2:15, they all came out, Scott used his Acoustic guitar and for the soundcheck, they performed.."I'll Be There For You". It sounded SOOOO good! I thought I was gonna faint. Seriously! It had to have been the HOTTEST, nicest day ever! After the soundcheck, we still had about 45 mins. to go before 3:30. But time flew by...and more and more people started coming. I tried to start a "Moffatt Moffatt Moffatt" chant about 5 times, but that was totally un-successful. Like two seconds before they came out, Athena's cousin Denise, was sitting in the reserved seating area, told us, that if we wanted her to take any pictures or anything, give her our cameras...we gave her our video camera, and told her how to zoom in and stuff. First, Z95.7 came on stage and starting yakking...saying they were going to be having a contest after the show for autographed boxers and all this stuff..and to go by the booth and fill out a form and stuff. I was soo happy cause when they came up on stage, EVERYONE was boo-ing them..including me. They act like they SUPPORT the Moffatt's..yeah right..they were just there to get publicity for their crappy station. The Moffatt's came out at 3:30 on the dot. They opened with "Written All Over My Heart". Thats like my favorite song by them, so I was soo happy. We held up our "Say Shaw Scott" banner through the song. It was weird, cause I felt soo sick all through the concert. It was probably from not eating all day, being nervous, hot and tired. But I didn't let that stop me. I wanted to have fun, so I clapped, screamed, sang and jumped like a maniac. The songs they sang were "Sayin I Love You", "Love", "Until You Loved Me", "Misery", "Girl Of My Dreams", "Raining In My Mind", "Miss You Like Crazy" and covers like, "Fly Away", "Enter Sandman", "Cheap Sunglasses", "Song 2", "Wild Thing", "You Really Got Me" and their finale was "Shine" by Collective Soul. Oh my god..they were head-banging! It was the best show I've EVER seen. I was in awe. It was sooo much more than I expected it to be. This was my favorite concert of their's so far. When it was over, we found mom who was still behind us where we left her. Mom said "That was soo good..that last song was soo unlink them. I hope they put those songs on the next album". It was amazing! All the way to the Wherehouse, all of us were saying, "Oh my god! That was the best". It was no doubt the best thing Ive seen in my 14 and a half years. When we got to the Wherehouse to get their autographs, the line went all the way down the block. So we went and stood for about 35 minutes until it was our turn. When we were finally able to get in the store to get their autographs, I go up to Scott. I had the camera in his face with him looking at me. I was soo close to taking his picture, but I didn't wanna blind him with the flash. So I didnt. I asked him if he got our scrapbook we gave them last time. ((Meaning HANG TIME)) He sat there kinda like he was in another world..He said "Uhh..yeah...I think so". haha But Im an idiot cause I didnt even tell him WHEN we gave it to him! Anyway, I go to Clint, he signs my picture, and Im off to Bob. Bob looked at me and said something?! I'll be damned if I knew what he meant by it though. He said something about my magazine?! I didnt even have one with me? I said "What"? He said "magazine". I said "Smash Hits". I thought he was asking where I got the picture I was having them sign. But know what? It came from the British magazine, "BIG" and Smash Hits was the first to pop into my head. So it was even, I didnt understand him, and Bob didnt understand me! haha Last, but not least, was Dave. I said "Hi!" he said "Hi" and I said "Thank you!" Then I asked, "Can we have our picture taken with you guys"? Dave said "Sure", but the Guard said "You can only take it with them at the table cause we gotta keep the line moving". I said "Okay"..and handed mom the camera. She took our picture next to Dave..and the A HOLE BEHIND US WALKS IN FRONT OF THE CAMERA". I said "Take it again..HURRY"! Then Dave looked up and grinned but it was too late...the Guard made us leave. But when Kristee had them sign our picture with them from March 19th, Dave or Clint said "Is this from Toronto"? Kristee said "No, March 19th"..as if they knew where they were on that day! And Kristee also gave Scott our present for them and Ariana gave Clint a necklace she had wrapped ((that her dad gave her haha)). And Clint said "What is it"? Ariana said "You'll have to open it to find out". He said "Okay" and put it under the table. Mom handed them a piece of paper and Scott handed her someone else's poster and mom said "Thats not it HONEY!" She called him HONEY! Whoo hoo! And nope, she'll never know how lucky she is! haha We walked back to the car still in shock of the awesome show. Normally, I would have been crying since it was all over, but it made me feel a hell of a lot better knowing we were going to see them on September 21st. All I could say about that show, was that is was THE BEST.
