manager of the Collins Cannery, he had romantic leanings toward Liz - but she didn't even think much of him as an employee.

a banker and accessory to Burke's plans.

Jim Hardy, one of Constable Carter's men; he is present at the scene after Roger's accident.

Lt. Frank Palmer, a New York policeman and friend of Carter's, who runs a check on Burke's background at the constable's request.

Harry, one of Carter's men.

Mrs. Turner, a local citizen who gets on Carter's nerves; first she forgets to tie up her dog, then reports it stolen when it wanders off.
