The wife of Roger Collins and mother of David Collins, Laura was clearly unhappy with her marriage for in 1985 she took her son, left her husband and moved to England. But in 1991, Laura and David were trapped in a fire. Though they were rescued, Laura was committed to a mental institution, and David returned to the States to live with his father.
But Laura continued to control her son. For Laura Collins was a witch, with extremely powerful and evil magic. Using her powers, Laura discovered her husband's affair with Maggie Evans and determined to kill Roger because of it. Under Laura's influence, David went into a trance, and guided by his mother's power, made a voodoo doll of his father and set it on fire. (Perhaps Laura had controlled David before, as he was thrown out of the local school for burning it down. Or maybe he just picked up a fascination with flames from living with Laura for so long.) Her plan was only foiled when governess Victoria Winters discovered the fire and put it out. Roger, who was in pain when the fire was burning, recovered as soon as it was extinguished.
It can be assumed that someone as powerful as Laura Collins wouldn't have given up easily, and maybe one day she returned to Collinwood to complete her revenge.
