Eucalyptus johnstonii - Tasmanian
Yellow Gum, Yellow Gum, Brown Gum, Johnston's Gum
(Tasmania) A very tall, straight forest tree with attractive apple-green
leaves and smooth bark that peels in ribbons to reveal shades of orange,
yellow and green. Its wood is somewhat useful and it tolerates poor
soil drainage. Closely related to E. subcrenulata. Slightly
overrated for hardiness by many nurseries, but capable of surviving considerable
cold when large. 4 to 14°F.
