(e-mail me if you still want it sent to you personally) Crime and Punishment Part 8 Usagi heard the sirens of police cars in the distance. A sudden feeling of dej a vous crept down her spine. It was the same scene from two months ago. Her with a gun in her hand and the police on their way. This sense over powered her and she almost didn't see the man make a move to stand up. She quickly recovered though and muttered, "Bad move, pal." She swiftly kicked him in the groin and he doubled over in pain. He squirmed there on the floor for a few moments, cursing and groaning. When the pain seemed to have subsided he turned on Usagi. "You bitch! Who do you think you are? You think you're better than me? Huh? Do ya?" he spat deliriously. Usagi wasn't fazed. She bent down slowly with the gun in hand, ready to strike until she was face to face with the robber. "No," she said sadly, "I don't think I'm better than you." And she jerked the hilt of the gun under his jaw, knocking him out cold. Usagi sat there gazing at the man for what seemed like ages. "Drop the gun! You're under arrest," a voice said from behind her. Usagi turned and saw that the arcade was engulfed in blue. The police had arrived. "Just like old times," she smiled grimly and slowly stood up. "I said drop it!" came the voice she had heard before and Usagi saw that it was policeman. "Sure," she replied and immediately released the gun. The clatter when it made impact with the floor sent everything into chaos. The hostages on the floor who had begun to stand up, dropped back to the floor and covered their heads, thinking someone was firing. The policemen surrounding Usagi jumped at her and soon she restrained on the ground. Usagi didn't even struggle, "Maybe this is my punishment," Usagi's mind thought, "maybe this is my life. Maybe I'm just a criminal and nothing more." Then she remembered her mission. "Oh, no! Ravenica is gonna kill me! Or even worse, she might replace me and I'll never see my family again!" Usagi hung her head in shame as the police escorted her to the car. "Hands on the car. Spread your legs shoulder length apart," an officer ordered her. Usagi barely heard him, oh well she knew the drill. "You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say or do can be held against you in a court of law..." the officer continued. Usagi ignored him completely, her mind was some place else. "Was that me? Did that clerk look at me like I was someone to be feared, someone to be hated?" Usagi felt terrible. She had been that man two months ago and she hadn't finished paying for it. Mamoru had been on his way to the arcade when he had heard sirens. The cars raced past him and stopped in front of a very familiar building. "The arcade.." Mamoru gasped and took off running. When he got there the police had already stormed the place. Mamoru pushed past the onlookers. He had to see if Motoki and Bunny were alright. He got through the door and saw Motoki talking with a policewoman. Mamoru's heart rate slowed a little bit and he let out his breath in relief. "He's okay," Mamoru was relieved. "But where's Bunny?" He searched the arcade franticly and then he spotted her, being carted away by two policemen. The girls had barely gotten through the door when they heard Motoki cry out something to them. Rei saw the man first, she also saw that he had a gun. She was about to react when she saw Bunny rise up from behind the counter. The man looked back towards the counter and became somewhat distracted. Rei saw this as her chance. She quickly pushed Ami to the ground and pressed her body against her as a shield. She turned her head and saw that Makoto had done the same thing for Minako. Then Rei heard the gunshot. She jerked her head up and saw Bunny clutching her shoulder. Rei's anger began to rise and she felt for her transformation pen. Before she could do anything though, she saw Bunny fling herself over the counter and kick the gun out of the man's hand. She heard Bunny shout something to Motoki and then she heard sirens. Everything after that happened in a blur. She saw the police arrive and haul off Usagi. Rei tried to yell for them to stop, but she couldn't find her voice. Luckily Ami found hers, "Wait!" she cried, but her voice wasn't heard above all the commotion. "Get off me Rei!" Ami said urgently. Rei looked at her sheepishly and raised herself up. Ami ran hurriedly outside with three girls on her heels. "What's your name?" the police officer asked as her padded Usagi down. If Usagi had been thinking clearly, she might have had the common sense not to answer instead she said, "Tsukino Usagi." Right after the words escaped her lips, she regretted it even though the police wouldn't remember her name. Little did she know that four girls and a young man had heard her slip. Sailor Xena
