LENE LOVICH

Born Lili Marlene Premilovich (on March 30, 1950), Lene Lovich, like many a ForgottenDiva, was either ahead of her time, behind it, or from another dimension entirely. A keeper of the flame first lit by Yma Sumac, her bird-like trills and operatic howling are unmistakable. Hits like "Lucky Number", "New Toy", and "Blue Hotel" are just the tip of the new-wave iceberg; Lene and longtime partner Les Chappell carved out unique atmospheric soundscapes unlike any other. Coupled with her look (that of an insane eastern-European silent film star run amok), Lene seemed destined for pop stardom, yet never rose above cult status. Creativity so often frightens the mainstream! None the less her albums "Stateless", "Flex", and "No Man's Land" are classics. Active in various artistic and theatrical endeavors as well, the ultimate proof of her Diva status is her friendship (and erstwhile collaboration) with none other than Nina Hagen. It is not unlikely that they are both visitors from the same planet---one just a wee bit more fabulous than our own!

LENE LOVICH IS A DIVA NOT TO BE FORGOTTEN!!!
