I'm a Glamourpuss...

Only a Diva would speak such words of Truth, let alone sing them. Such a one is Mari Wilson, also known as "Miss Beehive" and "The Nymphet of Nail Varnish". Perhaps too fabulous for her own good, Mari is almost completely unknown in the backwater that is known as the US of A. In early '80s England, however, she truly had her day in the sun. Known for her towering beehive hairdo and sultry singing voice, she had numerous hits overseas, from "Glamourpuss", "Just What I Always Wanted" and "Beat the Beat" to the theme from the film "Dance With a Stranger" to her trademark version of "Cry Me a River". Groomed for stardom by the Compact House label, which specialized in post-new-wave-retro oddities, her shows with the Wilsations, and later the Marionettes, are the stuff of legend. Sadly, when she chose to lose the bouffant hairstyle, she lost many of her fans as well. Yet like the trouper that she is, she's still performing in jazz clubs in London, where a devoted following keeps her shows sold out.

MARI WILSON IS A DIVA NOT TO BE FORGOTTEN!!!
