The Sixth Extinction-7X03 (My review, as posted on Space's X-Files Message Board, which is where I live)

I love giving my op. on these things. So, whether you like it or not, here goes.

Point #1: Scully loves Mulder.

I enjoy the fact that Scully wrote all of her field notes to Mulder, describing how the illness is swallowing his "beautiful mind". She's so deep. It really makes me think that she didn't really throw that Memento Mori journal out, and has been writing in it ever since.

That last scene: it made me cry. C'mon, you were crying too. Scully pleading with Mulder to hold on...I was sure she was going to tell him she loved him right there.

Point #2: Scully rocks.

Did you see how she handled that machete? Or how expertly she bludgeoned Barnes with that chair? Very skillful. She's so resourceful. And, while we're on it, she looked amazing....hair up, glasses on, tight, white tank top with her bra slightly showing? In the words of Frohike: "She's hot."

Point #3: Skinner's not so bad.

Hey, so we all thought he was pretty damned evil for betraying M&S, but it turns out he's just being blackmailed by that gorgeous Krycek. I mean, I'd do something for the guy if he was threatening me with my life. Then again, I'd do anything for Krycek even if I wasn't being threatened..hehehe...

Point #4: Where's Krycek?

Speaking of our lovely Alex, where's he off to? Ten bucks says he stole the spaceship.

Point #5: Mulder + Hospital = Good-looking.

Since when has Mulder NOT looked good when he was lying in a hospital bed? Can you honestly say he looked horrible? It's that vulnerability thing, I swear.

Point #6: Mulder makes laptop music.

Who would've thought Mulder'd become psychic? I didn't. And I usually think a lot about these things. Well, I'm glad he did. Because now he knows that Fowley's just an evil, lying scumbag, and Scully's the one who truly loves him, despite what she says. Besides, who's actually WORKING to save Mulder's life? SCULLY.

Point #7: Speaking of That Fowley Thing...

I refuse to call that thing a woman. Contary to popular belief, no woman could be so evil. There's nothing I can say about her that wouldn't include an extreme amount of swearing, so to put it as nice as possible: Fowely, you are a wretched, wretched thing, and I hope you die and burn in hell.

I'm not just saying that 'cause I'm a shipper. I wasn't that way with Covarubbius. Actually, I enjoyed Marita. So there. :P

Point #8: Expensive is good.

X-Files is the most expensively made television program on television, with a price tag of approximately $2 million per episode. This episode shows that. The special effects with the sea of blood was beautiful, and probabaly one of the better effects showed on the show. (the best has to be the spaceship in the movie, but they had a huge budget for that)

Point #9: Kim Manners is possibly one of the best directors.

Enough said. He has directed some of the best episodes with such beauty and technique. And you have to remember, you don't have as much time directed a television episode as you do with a movie. Good job.

Finally: "The Sixth Extinction" was a wonderful episode from start to finish. I can't wait for "SEII: Amor Fati"!! If this is what the S7 mythology eps are going to be like, bring on the season!

Darn straight! This is beautifully shown by counterpointing Diana scene (I love you) with Scully's (Hold on). The true emotion is with Scully. Diana pays lip service (besides, I think she's sleeping with CSM)

>>>That last scene: it made me cry. C'mon, you were crying too. Scully pleading with Mulder to hold on...I was sure she was going to tell him she loved him right there.

As far as I'm concerned, she did.

>>>Who would've thought Mulder'd become psychic? I didn't. And usually think a lot about these things. Well, I'm glad he did.

I've always thought Mulder was psychic. His logic jumps in profiling cases are a little TOO intuitive. I also think this has something to do with CSM's interest in Mulder (remember Gibson Praise, who for all we know could be Mulder's little boy by Fowley - how's that for a plot twist.)

On a recent online chat, our the only comment to get through to Chris Carter from our room was "Scully should kill Diana". Chris' comment was "So much for violence on television".

I just hope they BRING BACK SPENDER! I don't think daddy shot him. And Chris Ownes is a heck of a great guy.

From Office Flunky:

I think I could handle more episodes with Scully all hot and sweaty in a white t-shirt. Yum :)

But I suppose I could deal with any excuse to see Scully in a white T again. . . . . (wink)

But I don't think the season opener was that great. In fact I thought it sucked large. It was boring and went no where and wasted a lot of time. Most of this information was already pieced together in the season ender in the summer.

Okay so all humans are really the descendants of aliens and aliens have influenced our belief systems for years. Gods are actually aliens. Yahoo! Okay, moving on, so what!?! Where do you want to go from there. In the sci-fi realms these big "IDEAS" are not really so big at all. They have been well covered ground for DECADES!

From Dave (I love the guy):

>>>Point #1: Scully loves Mulder.

Yes I agree. However, I think that there will be no relationship. How would it be dealt with? Too much baggage, especially if the series is supposed to move on to movie franchise. Personally, I think one of them, or both, will not remember the kiss. If one remembers, there'll be that on-going sexual tension we've seen for quite some time now.

>>>Point #2: Scully rocks.

Yes she does. Personally, I think she's carried the show for more than her share, and on many occasions out-acted David. Don't get me wrong, I like Mulder, but if you look at the entire series, Scully's the one that has evolved professionally and emotionally. AND, she looks hot. She can work in Africa anytime if it means more white and tight.

>>>Point #3: Skinner's not so bad.

Agree. ALways seems to be blackmailed or threatened in some way. Deep down though, he's tried to help.

>>>Point #4: Where's Krycek?

Sorry Mel, but Krycek's a loser and an *@#hole. Mulder should have done him in when he had the chance. In terms of "evilness", Krycek beats cancer man.

>>>Point #5: Mulder + Hospital = Good-looking.

Scully in white, tight... Things that make you go hummmm. If only the spaceship had been more in the water....

>>>Point #7: Speaking of That Fowley Thing...

AGREE. What a dog. What is her definition of love???? Although, she did say in the opener that although her loyalties are divided, Mulder would now understand why. So, what's the reason????

Anyway, Mulder should flush her away. She's worthy of spending her time with sewer waste, and even that is generous.

>>>Point #8: Expensive is good.

That usually is the case, which explains why the movie contains more and better special effects.

>>>Finally: "The Sixth Extinction" was a wonderful episode from start to finish. I can't wait for "SEII: Amor Fati"!! If this is what the S7 mythology eps are going to be like, bring on the season!

I agree, I thought it was a good episode. So some of the themes have been around for a decade (re. one of the replies), but they did it well. The bug thing, SCARY.

My response to the lovely Dave...

>>>Point #1: Scully loves Mulder.

>>>Yes I agree. However, I think that there will be no relationship.

I hope there will be.

>> How would it be dealt with?

You know, so many people would think the show would fail. I for one, would not. I think it would add more depth and layers to the show.

>>>Personally, I think one of them, or both, will not remember the kiss.

Oh, they will. They might not mention it, but they will. Remember, Scully's got that cool journal...

>>>Point #2: Scully rocks.

>>>Yes she does. Personally, I think she's carried the show for more than her share, and on many occasions out-acted David.

And those Emmy peeps would agree.

>>>Don't get me wrong, I like Mulder, but if you look at the entire series, Scully's the one that has evolved professionally and emotionally. AND, she looks hot. She can work in Africa anytime if it means more white and tight.

DON'T GET ME DROOLING!!!! *drooooooooolllllll*

>>>Point #4: Where's Krycek?

>>>Sorry Mel, but Krycek's a loser and an *@#hole.

Yeah, but he's a HOT loser/a$$hole. Whereas CSM is not. Case closed.

>>>Point #5: Mulder + Hospital = Good-looking.

>>>Scully in white, tight... Things that make you go hummmm. If only the spaceship had been more in the water....

WET T-SHIRT CONTEST! YAA! (but she had her bra on. And you KNOW the way her bras work..)

>>>Point #7: Speaking of That Fowley Thing...

>>>AGREE. What a dog. What is her definition of love????

Fowley: "My definition of love is being with someone who will give you power in the chain of command in an international governmental conspiracy. One who is vulnerable and gullible, who you can trick into believing you're not as evil as you may seem. One who can be easily destroyed and betrayed with some deceiving words, and who has a hot female partner who will be envious of you if you ever do succeed in making him love you back."

>>>Anyway, Mulder should flush her away. She's worthy of spending her time with sewer waste, and even that is generous.

Yeah, too generous.
