Let's see. For the past 4 years I have been a member of the Harlingen High School South Marching Band. At halftime we are called The MEAN GREEN MACHINE. Kinda cheezy but that is ok. My freshman year we marched to music from the movie "The Mambo Kings". It was a fun show to march. My sophomore year was... shall we say....not one too many of us care to remember. However I did have a solo on the field and that was totally cool. My Junior year was totally awesome!!! The senior class was one I will never forget. I love all of them. Perhaps I will make a memorial page to the best senior class the Hawk band has ever had! We got new directors that year too. Mr. Albert Salazar and Mr. Tommy Fee certainly did change things around for the very better. Our show my Junior year consisted of "Georgia On My Mind," "Enchanted Kingdom" featuring Trombone Soloist, David Palomo, and "Softly As I Leave You," featuring Mellophone Soloist, ME!! Our outstanding Drum Majors were Alex Flores and Reagan Brumley. Let's see. That about brings to my Senior year of marching band. Let me tell you it just wasn't the same without the guys around. But it was still successful. Our show was "Malaguena," featuring Trombone Soloist Phillip Hoeflinger, "Caravan," and "Over the Rainbow," again with a Mellophone solo by yours truely. We got straight first division ratings at Pigskin Jubilee Region Marching Contest and advanced to the Area G Marching Contest. So that about winds up my marching career thus far. I am going to miss it greatly but I know things will continue to grow and get better. I think I would like to march in DCI one day but I have other feats to accomplish first.
