The tantalizing aroma of bacon, brown sugar
and cinnamon is irresistible.
These morsels are fine for either a buffet brunch or a cocktail party.
1 pound bacon, room temperature (regular bacon, not thick sliced)
1 1/4 cups brown sugar
1 T cinnamon, optional
Cut each slice of bacon in half, crosswise. Mix sugar and cinnamon together and
thoroughly coat each slice of bacon. Twist slices (or leave flat) and place on rack
in a broiler pan or jelly roll pan in a 350° oven.
Bake until crisp and sugar is bubbly, 15-20 minutes.
Watch closely as the sugar burns quickly. Cool on foil. Serve at room
temperature.
These may be made hours ahead and left at room temperature. Makes 16 Servings
Internet Note: This is a really good recipe- I have made it
several times and finally cured
(just a little bacon joke) the problem of the bacon uncurling after I twisted it up.
I used shish kabob skewers (you can use long bamboo skewers, soaked in water)
and threaded the tops and bottoms on them- so that I had about 8 bacon twists
on each set- one skewer on top and one on the bottom. Try it!

this shows two
skewers, one on each end, with three strips of bacon
strung twisted between them.
