Pecan Squares

Crust:
3 cups all purpose flour
1/2 cup sugar
1 cup butter or margarine, softened
1/2 teaspoon salt

Filling:
4 eggs,
1 1/2 cups light or dark corn syrup
1 1/2 cups sugar
3 tablespoons butter or margarine, melted
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
2 1/2 cups chopped pecans

In large mixing bowl, blend together flour, sugar, butter and salt until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Press firmly and evenly into a greased 15 x 10 x 1* inch baking pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes. Meanwhile, in another bowl, combine first 5 filling ingredients. Stir in pecans. Spread evenly over hot crust. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 minutes or until set. Cool on a wire rack. Yield 4 dozen.
*Note, sides must be at least 1 inch high otherwise filling will overflow.
