16 wooden or metal skewers
1/4 cup firmly-packed brown sugar
1/4 cup sherry
1/4 cup soy sauce
2 teaspoons crushed garlic
2 teaspoons sesame oil
1 pound sirloin steak, 1 inch thick, sliced into 1/4-inch-thick
slices
If using wooden skewers, soak them in water for 20 to 30 minutes.
Preheat the grill or broiler. In a small bowl, combine all of the ingredients
except
the steak; mix well.
Add the steak, cover, and marinate in the refrigerator for 20 minutes,
or several hours. Thread the steak like a ribbon onto the skewers and grill
or broil for 5 to 6 minutes, or until desired doneness.
NOTE: These are not the typical type of kebabs because they are all
meat. Grill some colorful veggies alongside these, or serve with
corn on the cob!
Appetizer or Main Dish. If making as an appy, use small skewers.
