We landed in Kadary and were instantly hurried into the Land Rover by Demi. She gave us directions to the chasm that had opened from the ground. We loaded our supplies into the huge vehicle and were on our way to The Edge.
With every kilometer that we moved closer to The Edge, the devastation got worse and worse. We cut across the quicksand near Mile, only to find the town desolate. The entire population had been killed, seemingly by the same Energy Wave that took Alys. Trees were dried and wilted, lakes and ponds turned to dust. As we approached The Edge, Rune and I could sense the Wave, and feel its powerful force. When the huge cracks in the ground made it impossible for the Land Rover to move any closer to the abyss, we disembarked and made the rest of the way on foot.
The whole area had a stench to it, like charred wood, cloth and even flesh. We neared the edge of the fissure and realized that we now had to climb down into the void. Horrid scream-like noised emanated from inside The Edge. Wren leapt into the crevasse, then motioned for Chaz and Rika to follow. Rune then climbed down and held out his hands from me to follow. When we were all in the hole, we started to walk on the somewhat illuminated walkway that had materialized at our feet.
We walked on for quite a while, watching out for anything that may decide to pay us a little visit. We came to a fork in the path and Wren used his portable computers to determine the route we should take. We turned right, down a course that was much darker than its sister to our left did. As soon as we were far enough down the path, far enough for us not to be able to retreat, an Imagiomage instantly attacked us. It struck us without warning, with bolts of Tandil, an offshoot of Tandle. While Wren used Star Dew to heal the party, Chaz and Rune dispersed of the minion with one blow of GrandCross. We decided, after the Imagiomage incident, to walk at a slightly faster pace that before, a decision that would make a very big difference, much to our happiness.
We could tell we were getting deeper into The Edge, the path began to fade ever so slightly with ever step we took. While walking, Rika equipped her Guard Claws, and Wren made sure his Photon Eraser was in perfect working order. The light on either side of the path was almost non-existent at this point, and we stopped to briefly rest. We knew that the Profound Darkness, or something that would lead us to it, was right in front of us.
Chaz ran his hands over the hilt and blade of Elsydeon, and quietly asked it to protect the party. Rune clutched my hand tightly and looked me in the eyes. He quietly said, "I just want you to know how much I love you. No matter what happens, I will always love you, never forget that." He moved closer to me and put his forehead against mine. He then kissed me gently and we turned to face to rest of the party. We all started to walk, side by side, to our final battle. The final battle.
