Grab your fans and waft away 'cause the BACKSTREET BOYS are getting so hot, they're positively steamin'!
*There's a sudden sandstorm in the scorchin' hot desert sand as five guys tumble down a sand dune hollering at each other. Suddenly there's a big yowl as Kevin scrapes himself against a mean looking cactus! L&K gets out our offering of ice-pops to cheer him up, but alas they're already melted to slush!
*The Backstreet Boys are marooned in the desert doing a photo shoot miles from anywhere. Well Desert Springs to be precise, which is 120 miles from LA and a massive 180 miles from Las Vegas. As the temperature soars up to 90 degrees and the tatty tumbleweed rolls by a crumbly old gas station, it would be a good idea to cool off and relax in the trailer, but nope, the guys take a quick break from their photo shoot and scamper off to explore.
*Nick spots an old sledgehammer and Kevin shouts, "There's just no way you're gonna lift that!" so Nick grits his teeth and mutters something to himself. "Heeeave!" Shouts Nick just before the hammer comes slamming down on an old metal pipe stuck in the sand.
*AJ dips into the cooler and rummages around and pulls out a huge orange. As he bends down Brian skips past and accidentally kicks sand in AJ's face. "Bleeurrgh!" splutters AJ, "that was tasty!"
*All the guys collapse in the sand for a rest so L&K grabs the chance to ask them about their new alb. "It's almost done now," says Brian. So what's it gonna be like? "We're gonna stay true to ourselves and keep making better and better music, but you'll definitely know it's the Backstreet Boys," says Kev. Brian bursts out laughing, "It's hard rock!" he jokes.
*So have the boys had any time off recently? Brian squints at the sun thoughtfully, "It's been a juggle of both, work and play. There's been a lot of rumours that we're breaking up so we're gonna let everyone know that we're a unit, we're a group."
Kevin shifts around on the boiling hot sand, rubbing his sore-pricked arm. "Anybody can write a story and put it in a paper nowadays - that's part of being a celebrity I suppose," he says. Brian nods in agreement and croaks: "That's one of the saddest the saddest things about it." L&K passes the chilled water to soothe his dry throat as quick as a flash.
*We've heard rumours about Nick doing some solo projects so we asked him whether there was any truth in them. "There will be some in the future but not any time soon. I won't be doing anything with my brother or sister 'cause they're doing their own thing. Maybe I'll do something on the technical side, producing or writing, but not right now."
*Brian starts talking about growing up a lot and L&K ponders whether he's in tip-top health after his heart operation. "I'm fine, there's no problems although I still go for checkups and everything," he smiles. "The truth is now I'm much happier 'cause I've got a girlfriend. I don't have anything to hide, and, of course, I have to have a life - it's really important to me. It's my tie to normality, well as close to being normal as I can," he confides as he goes cross-eyed!
*And what about splitting from their management, did they make the right decision? "Our management took us to a level and what we wanna do now is grow even more. It was a mutual decision just go on," Nick says, as he scoops the sand around with his feet. Kevin's ears prick up and he adds, "We're a lot happier now." Glad to hear it boys!
