This page dedicated to the EAA chapter 679 Vancouver Island

On Thursday, September 3, 1998, the Nanaimo Flying Club and EAA chapter 697 lost a good friend. While doing preparations for a Convair flight in Vancouver, B.C. Jim Tallis passed away suddenly of a heart attack.

Jim achieved more than 30,000 accident free hours. A few of the aircraft that Jim flew included his personal J-3, Norseman, Beaver, assorted Cessnas, Twin Otter, Dash-8, F-27, DC-3, and the Convair. Jim even flew helicopters in northern Alberta rounding up buffalo.

Jim will be remembered for his kind heart, witty sense of humour, and his contributions to aviation in Canada.

He leaves his wife, Margaret, and their dog Jenny, who live in Ladysmith on Vancouver Island. Margaret said that Jim was always a big advocate for getting young people involved in aviation. She has asked that donations in Jim's memory be made to COPA's Neil Armstrong Flying Scholarship Fund.
