For the School Year beginning September 2000


Volunteers

Parent support is essential for a successful Pack meeting. Each Den MUST provide one(1) parent volunteer for set-up, one(1) parent volunteer for clean-up, and two(2) parent volunteers for security.

Candle Fundraiser

This is our ONLY fundraiser. Please support us by volunteering your time. Each scout is asked to participate by selling at least one case of candles. Please contact Rae for more information.

Monmouth Council's Fishing Derby

Quail Hill Scout Reservation
Saturday, October 7, 2000, 9:00am to 3:00pm
Cost - $1.00 per person


Bring your pole bait and a bag lunch. Scouts of all ages may participate. Prizes will be awarded for the smallest fish, largest fish, and most fsh caught. For additional information contact Allen Andreatch at (732) 229-2461.

Monmouth Council's BB and Archery Certification Derby

Quail Hill Scout Reservation, Lawrence Lodge
La Valley Drive, Manalapan
Sunday, October 8, 2000, Rain or Shine 9:00am to 1:00pm for Certification
9:00am to 10:30am for recertification
Cost - $1.00 per person


This course meets both BSA and New Jersey State requirements for BB/Archery certification. Certification is good thru December 31, 2002. For more information contact Donna at the service center (731)531-3636.

Monmouth Council's Wagon Master Training

Quail Hill Scout Reservation, Lawrence Lodge
La Valley Drive, Manalapan
Sunday, October 15, 2000 1:00pm to 5:00pm
Cost - $3.00 per person


Family camping? This course provides the required training for any Pack desiring to provide a camping experience for their scouts. Training will be provided in the following areas: facilities usage, program development, health and safety procedures, check-in and check-out procedures, and Unit leadership requirements. Monmouth Council's "Youth Protection Program"

Quail Hill Scout Reservation, Lawrence Lodge
La Valley Drive, Manalapan
Tuesday, October 17, 8:00pm to 9:30pm


Excellent video and open discussion regarding child abuse. Program deals with issues involving physical and emotional abuse as well as child neglect. What are the signs? How do you report it? What is your responsibility as an adult?
This program is necessary for completion of Wagon Master training and is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED for all adult scouters. To register call the service center at (732) 531-3636.

Monmouth Council's "Cub Scout Leader Basic Training"

Saturday, October 21, 9:00am to 2:00pm
Quail Hill Scout Reservation, Lawrence Lodge
La Valley Drive, Manalapan

Provides basic training for the new scout leaders. Helps answer questions about uniform, meetings, advancement, sports and academic programs and much more. To register call the service center at (732) 531-3636.

Monmouth Council's "Scouting for Food"

Foodtown at Raintree, Route 537 Freehold
November 10, 2000, 10:00am to 12:00pm

Flyers will be available for distribution to shoppers. Donation will are collected as shoppers exit. Food items are to be brought to Rae's home where our Webelo dens will count and sort the donations. All goods will be donated locally.

Turkey Shoot - Pack Meeting

Quail Hill Scout Reservation, BB & Archery Ranges
November 18, 2000, 12:00- 4:00

BB Shooting and Archery at the Quail Hill Range located off of Route 527A. Dens will instructed on the BB Range followed by the Archery range. Leaders must make a list of participants for attendance and patches. Leaders must also collect BB targets for calculation by our CubMaster. A basket will be available for the targets.

Tree Lighting Ceremony - Optional

Elementary School
December 2, 2000, 7:30pm

Join our scouts and the rest of our community and share the holiday spirit. Caroling followed by refreshments. Participating scouts must be in uniform. Parents are asked to bring a baked good to help with refreshments.

St. Anthony of Padua Parish Hall, Highstown

$3.00 pre-registration fee includes materials and patch

Roller Skating - Pack Meeting

Jackson Roller Skating Rink
December 16, 2000, 5:00pm-7:00pm

All scouts and family members are welcome. Scouts skate for free while family member admission is only $3.50. (skate rental not included). The snack bar is closed! Den leaders/parents may want to bring a light snack or dinner for their skaters.

Monmouth Council's "Bowl-a-thon"

Manalapan Country Lanes December 26, 27, 28, or 29th (TBA), 9:00am to 2:00pm

Parents, brothers, sisters and leaders may participate providing they secure a minimum of $15.00 in pledges each. Pledges may be a flat amount or a pledge per pin. Participants bowl two games.

Ski Trip - Pack Meeting (optional)

Open to all family members wishing to participate. Attending scouts MUST be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Sled Race - Pack Meeting

Elementary School, Cafetorium
February 25th, 7:30pm to 9:00pm

Double elimination will be used (a sled must lose twice before being eliminated)and each level will have a winner.
Sled rules:
Sleds must have carpeted bottoms.
Sleds begin with back ends even with start line
Back end of sled must completely pass finish line (including all runners, streamers or other decorative items)
Sleds must have 1 rider and at most 4 pullers
Pullers must remain on hands and knees at all times
Knee pads (worn under pants) and gloves are highly recommended for participating scouts.

Blue and Gold Breakfast Buffet - Pack Meeting

Join us for a leisurely breakfast buffet as we recognize the advancements of our scouts. Advancement recognition takes place at 10:00am. Tickets MUST be purchased in advance. Leaders are responsible for collecting all monies which are due at the February Sled Race. Leaders please indicate the number of scouts, leaders, paid adults, and paid children for your Den.

Pinewood Derby - Pack Meeting

The pack provides kits to all scouts. No other kits are allowed. At weigh-in, cars may have practice runs on the track. The race will be run using the double elimination method. 1st, 2nd and 3rd prize trophies will be awarded for each level.

Join us for a night of fun and games. Due to space limitations, this event is a parent scout event and participation is limited to 150 people on a first come basis. Please respond to Jan Oldak by April 5th.

Webelo Cross-Over by The Order of the Arrow
