This game was the first time I was able to beat politia, easily one of the top two or three players I have ever faced. The map was mine from the start, but I squandered my advantage early. I wanted to move into Dio and pop trick politia's 10th system, but he thwarted those plans. A good old fashioned chokepoint war broke out, but I was able to nuke his front planet and keep Orion alive. The turning point came when I built a sci and an engineer at S of Orion... there was no link to politia's home system at the time. As I opened the link and moved the sci in, I moved my main force from Orion to the south planet. Imagine my delight when what I thought would be the simple nuking of a back planet turned out to be an attempted nuke of his homeworld. Unfortunately politia had seen the link open and moved ships to cover. As my large force moved in, I closed the link behind them. After politia crushed this force, I built another at my home system. politia could see this planet, but not the one below it. The next update, I built an identical decoy fleet, this time at BR1, and sent the fleet towards Eha. This time politia did not see the link open, and he was dismayed to see his ships crush my BR1 decoy only to find my real force in his homeworld. A questionable tactic to be sure, but a last ditch effort that paid off.
