Our Reach for the Top Teams
Reach for the Top used to be a TV show aired on CBC between 1961 and 1985, featuring teams of four students matching wits with another four students from a different school in a trivia game similar to "Jeopardy!". Now, although no longer aired on CBC, Reach for the Top is called Schoolreach, and is going strong in many schools across Canada. Provincial and National Tournaments are still televised on local stations, but Reach for the Top is often overlooked when it comes to school teams.
This is our fourth year running Reach for the Top at Maple Ridge Secondary. In 1999, we attended our first Junior Provincial competition, placing very well and having a lot of fun! In 2000, our Senior team placed 4th at the Provincials, and our Junior team was 2nd. In 2001, we hosted the Senior Provincials at MRSS, and placed second by a difference of one question!
