Welcome to the Carnival of the Millenium

It is only three-months to go until the crème of Australian blind cricket cross swords for the last time this millenium.
South Australia is proud to be hosting this prestigious event and as a result have much planned for all visitors to the Festive State.
As you are all now aware the first round of competition will be played under an experimental format similar to the world cup rules played in India in November 1998. We are all looking forward to that.
Special thanks must go to the hard working Rules Committee whose hours of deliberation have made this historic event possible.
Part two of the competition commencing on 2nd January 2000 will be a two round competition with a two day final, as of traditional carnival rules and format.

Functions

South Australia has three excellent functions planned.

Opening Night 28 December
The Championships opener on December 28 is a roving roast at our Clubrooms at Gilles Plains, kicking off at 7.00pm.

New Years Eve
Something different, with the significance of the occasion we want to make this night a memorable one. We will all be transported to Port Adelaide for a river cruise taking us into the New Year.

Presentation Night
To be held at the Brahman Room at the South Australian Cricket Association Adelaide Oval. On January 11 after the final.

Live entertainment
On January 8 on completion of the minor round of competition the SABCC present a night of live entertainment at our clubrooms. A selection of Adelaide's premier entertainers. A small per head charge may apply.

After Match Eats
Food will be available after most games and the menu will keep things interesting. So feel free to stay and join us for some good times and socializing each day.

Preparations

The grounds at Gilles Plains are currently being top dressed in preparation for competition and will be in tiptop condition for the event.

What's On Around Town?

The 1992 when Adelaide hosted the last championships Gilles Plains has become a hive of activity. Due to two major housing developments an assortment of shops and eating houses have opened, making it a great place to be.
Within five minutes of the ground half a dozen eating places which will satisfy every palette.
Pizza Hut, Hungry Jack's and McDonalds for those with no concern for their diet.
For those who appreciate top quality eats, Subway, Country Style Chickens and Fasta Pasta are a stones throw away.
An excellent Chinese Restaurant for a comfortable evening meal is part of the shopping centre.
The shopping centre, two minutes from the grounds currently being renovated has shops for all needs including Woolworth's for groceries and a great bakery.
A little further down the road is the Highlander Hotel with Poker Machines, live entertainment and much more.
However the drink prices are most competitive at the SABCC Clubrooms.

The South Australian Blind Cricket Club will be supplying a wide range of beer, wine, spirits and other assorted alcoholic beverages, as well as a full range of soft drinks, sports drinks and tea and coffee
