A graduate of the Academy of Music in Sofia (he majored in composition under P. Stoyanov and in piano under K. and J. Ganev), he has attended composition courses with Ton de Leeuw and Theo Loevendie (the Netherlands) and Anatol Vieru (Rumania).
K. Taskov has won prizes at national and international competitions in piano (Santander, Spain and Tchaikovsky, Moscow, 1978) and in composition (Tokyo, 1991, 1995 for Fantasia and Triptych for two pianos, as well as the second place on the list of the 1984 International Composers Rostrum, UNESCO, Paris for the work Archaic Pictures for piano). He is the author of Capriccio for orchestra, concertos for oboe, clarinet, and violin, Overture-Concertante for orchestra, Introduction and Passacaglia for 14 stringed instruments, Musical Moments for quartet and stringed instruments, chamber music, vocal and choral works. His music is performed in Germany, Japan, France, Italy, Russia and other countries, and is published in Bulgaria, France, and Russia.
Krassimir Taskov is active as concert pianist and educator - he is Associate Professor in Piano at the State Academy of Music in Sofia.
