Britney Spears: A Thesis

Role Model - a person whose behavior, especially that exhibited in a particular capacity, serves as a model or standard for another person to follow.

That's the dictionary's definition of a word all to commonly used. Role Model. A title placed on everyone who makes a jumpshot, hits a homerun, throws a touchdown, wins an award or sings a popular song.

A word, which in this case is terribly misplaced. Titles in music have been existant throughout the history of music. Elvis Presley was the King of Rock-N-Roll. Michael Jackson was the King of Pop. Aretha Franklin is the Queen of Soul. And now... Britney Spears has been proclaimed the Princess of Pop after only one hit song and major controversy. When the crown was placed on her air-filled overly-dyed head the integrity of all those titles dropped some. One song gives her royal distinction, while the afore mentioned artists had impeccable CAREERS. A word Britney will never know in the music industry.

Career - way of living as by occupation or profession.

The 12-year old girls of the world will grow up and learn about important strides women have taken in the world and realize songs like 'Baby One More Time' is a sexual reference (no matter how much anyone denies it) or that 'Sometimes' and 'Born To Make You Happy' wreak of co-dependency. The will mature and along with that, they will realize how misguided their young hearts were by merchandising. The words "but she toured with *NSYNC" will mean nothing.

She will sag and the 16 year old boys of America will realize she was placed there specifically for them. Specifically so they'd buy her CD. Specifically so they'd pay to watch a sub-par performance in hopes that her shirt would ride up higher then it was intended. They will realize there are strong women in the world and be greatly disappointed. Suddenly the words "my lonliness is killing me..." will mean less then dirt to them.

But that, in all honesty is just the beginning. That is me looking down the road. Seeing what inevitably is going to happen. Fads come and go but talent is what will take you through tough times. That is how Whitney pressed onward. That is how Mariah did as well. Britney doesn't have enough to pull herself through when bubble gum pop is no longer "the thing".

Let's talk about now shall we...

I will start by saying. I do not, will not, can not like Britney Spears. Pigs will fly into the icy waters of hell before you see me purchase anything related to Britney Spears. For me to support her would make myself a contradiction. That would make me on Britney's level. One which I passed long ago.

Now I sit and now I watch a 17-year-old puppet flaunt herself on my TV screen like some kinda Playboy Mansion regect. Her clothes all too tight. Her newfound cleavage all too showing. Yet she finds a way to preach "self-confidence" and speaks about herself being a "normal teen." Sorry to inform you but normal teens do not get breast implants.

Not all of this blame lands on her, although she is totally capable, at age 17, to decide what is right and what is wrong. It also lands on her management, her label and her parents. All of whom either (1) encourage such behavior or (2) sit back and watch while they count the growing pile of money.

What a shock it will be to them when the kids grow and the money isn't as regularly available as it used to be. Remember talent is what pulls you through.

Britney was once quoted as saying "in 10 years when people pick up my CD..." Sorry to break things to you... but people won't be picking your CD up next year.

Clock's ticking and her 15 minutes are just about over.

To girls reading this... I hope you realize that belief in yourself is what makes a woman. Work on the inside. People who work on the outside first, that's what makes them girls. Which do you want to be?

Thanks to Z100 for the basic ideas for these parodies. Other parts were filled in by me (BlueC) ENJOY!

MAKE MY BOOBIES ONE MORE SIZE
TO THE TUNE OF ...BABY ONE MORE TIME

Oh booby booby
My chest was supposed to grow
My cleavage wasn't right y'all
Oh booby booby
My chest is completely full
And now my sweater's tight y'all

Surgery
I want to be a D
Big mammories
I want them to show
Oh just because

My chest flatness was killing me (and I)
I must confess I paid for these (paid for these)
I look 32, but I'm just a child
I am a crime
Make my boobies one more size

Oh booby booby
I got double D's it's true
Now you've all been blinded
My boobies boobies
They're so big and oh so new
It's just the way I planned yeah

Golly
Rolling Stone was naughty
See me baby
Barely wearing clothes
Oh just because

My chest flatness was killing me (and I)
I must confess I paid for these (paid for these)
I look 32, but I'm just a child
I am a crime
Make my boobies one more size

BOOBIES
Set to the tune of '(You Drive Me) Crazy'

Boobies
I lie about you
I'll make up something
I'll say they grew
Boobies
When I jump around
They keep on moving
They weigh 15 pounds

I did not have surgery
They just got bigger
Let's say puberty

They grew like crazy
Now I'm A D
I'm so much bigger
That's plain to see
Whoa...oh... oh... boobies
You believe me right?
It makes me happy
cause my sweater's tight

Saline
Is all up in me
Once was an A but now I'm a D
Saline
Came out of the blue
I hurt my knee then my chest kinda grew

Every time that you see me
It's all not real
It's stupidity

They grew like crazy
They weren't cheap
I'm so inflated
Unless they leak
Whoa... oh... oh... Boobies
You believe me right?
It makes me happy
Cause my shirt is tight

Here is a simple little fact. I happened to be *coughs and reads cue card* the lovely and talented Miss Spears (pre-implants) for Halloween this year. To me it was more of a statement than anything.
When I walked up the stairs in my costume (ultra revealing... ya know... had to look the part) I was met with the words "well you look like a slut". Those were the words said by my father. My rebuttal for that was "well you don't complain about Britney Spears. WHO IS YOUNGER THEN I AM!"
His response... "Well she makes her father money!"
That is the way that people look at it. It is kinda sad that my pig of a father had to point that out even more.
