Will We Fall For Thugs Like Them?

This is ~*~BLite~*~ reporting from my living room with a break through story. (Where did you think I was going to be reporting from? Backstage of an 'N Sync concert? Like that will ever happen...maybe in my f***ing dreams...why does every teeny bopper meet them, but me... sorry... back to the story at hand.) So I was labeling my 'N Sync tapes and stumbled across the Top 40 video countdown, literally. I might have to get some ice for this toe... okay back on track. As I watched the tape I began to realize that our boys have been showing their thug appeal long before JC sang in that wonderful song "Bring It All To Me" with Blaque.

So I coming from the D, for those who don't know that means Detroit, and I am bringing an investigation that will make you think.

The countdown starts off innocently with the number 40 video the Goo Goo Dolls and their song "Iris." I am thinking it is a Lance song so I figure he wouldn't pick a song that said thug appeal on it so of course I thought nothing of it. Then Justy picks the 39 video Naughty by Nature's "Hip Hop Hooray." We all know how much Justin shows his thug appeal so it didn't surprise me at all that he would pick that video. It was even kind of cute to see them wave their hands in the air like that didn't care. Soon the number 37 video is "Take Me There," and my interest is peaked because within five videos we have already seen artists that would be playing on any thugs radio station. We have Mya, Blackstreet, Mase, Blinky Blink and Naughty by Nature. Hmmm.... something is going on. My suspicion reached an all time high with the number 33 video which was Wu-Tang's "C.R.E.A.M. (Cash Rules Everything Around Me)." This song isn't even like the last Wu-Tang song either. This is NOT off of their Wu-Tang Forever CD. I was amazed as the guys began to sing the chorus to this song. The quote, "Dolla, Dolla, Bill Ya'll," rolls off of JC's tongue (and a nice tongue it is... anyway.) Maybe they do have thug appeal and they are just trying to hide it because of their management. The countdown continues and there are songs that are showing up left and right that make me say they really are thugs.

Another moment that confirmed my suspicion was when Lance was asked what was the first album he bought was, and they ragged on him because it was Whitesnake. Lance probably bought that album in the 80's during that time hip-hop, rap, and R&B was not that popular. Was it to show how far Lance had come in his thug appeal? I think so.

When song 21 rolls around it is Mya featuring Silk the Shocker with "Movin' On." These boys love them some Mya. What really caught my eye is that Chris knew that Silk the Shocker was Master P's younger brother. I won't lie... I didn't know that until Chris told me. However, this is to show you that all thugs should have the 411 on each other.

Those where the hightlights of the videos and here is the break down of my research.

39 - Naughty By Nature "Hip Hop Hooray"
37 - Mya, Blackstreet, Mase, & Blinky Blink "Take Me There"
34 - Janet Jackson "Everytime"
33 - Wu-Tang Clan "C.R.E.A.M"
32 - Timbaland and Magoo "Luv 2 Luv U" you also see Aaliyah and Ginwinue in the video just chillin'
28 - Skeelo "I Wish"
27 - Beastie Boys "No Sleep Till Brooklyn"
25 - Busta Rhymes "Woo Hah"
23 - Dru Hill "How Deep Is Your Love"
21 - Mya w/ Silk the Shocker "Movin' On"
19 - Beastie Boys "Intergalactic"
17 - Busta Rhymes "Dangerous"
12 - LL Cool J "Mama Said Knock You Out"
11 - Wyclef Jean w/ the Refugee All-stars "Gone Til November"
9 - Jay-Z "Hard Knock Life"
7 - Black street w/ Dr. Dre and Queen Pen "No Diggity"
6 - Aaliyah "Are You That Somebody"
4 - Will Smith "Miami"
2 - Busta Rhymes "Put Your Hands"
1-Lauryn Hills "Doo Wop (That Thing)"

As you can see half of the videos would be played on any good radio station here in the D for a thug, and I am sure else where. If you need help with the math just e-mail us and we will be gald to help you out. However I even have more proof in the Spring Break N Sync top 5 picks.

Justin picked BS... I will not comment on that because you know how Thug Appeal feels about her and if you don't please read... Let Me Hit Her Just One More Time.

JC's pick was "Pretty Fly For A White Guy." I personally think this was a cry out to the thugs that don't accept them yet.

Joey's pick was "Miami" by Will Smith.... yeah people question his artistry with hip-hop, but I am sorry he was a pioneer back in the day for rap that was light hearted. You have to love the man.

Chris's pick "Honey" By Mariah Carey... Puffy Daddy... enough is said.

The killer of them all however for me was Lance's Pick of Foxy Brown's "Hot Spot." I can't even begin to explain or understand why he picked this song. The only explanation that I could think of is that he is a thug. He has come full circle from his Whitesnake days as a young lad.

So will we fall for a thugs like them? Their debut album has sold 7 million copies and don't forget the Christmas album has sold like one or two in the USA alone. I think we have fallen folks and we didn't even know it. This is ~*~BLite~*~ signing off... Peace from the D.
