FF VII: Interrupted by Fireworks

Together Again; Syaoran's Return
Chapter 2: Twisted Dreams

This is the second chapter to an S + S fanfic. If you haven't read the first part
I suggest you do, it may not make to much sense if you don't.

Last time: Sakura remembered what life was like when Syaoran left for China. And
now, two years later, Syaoran decides to go back to Japan to be with Sakura.

"Sakura, where have you been?" Fujitaka asked sternly. "I thought you didn't
have practice after school today." He eyes her suspiciously, waiting for her reply.

Sakura hesitated, thinking of something to say. "I stayed after school to get
help on my math homework." Sakura lied, hoping he would believe her.

The excuse didn't make her father to happy. "Are you falling behind in your
studies?" Fujitaka folded his arms across his chest.

"No! It's nothing like that!" Sakura declared. "I just wanted to make sure
I was doing everything correctly. That's all." Sakura lied for a second time.

Fujitaka's face softened. "Okay. I just don't want you to get bad grades."

The green eyed girl smiled at her father. "I won't." Sakura turned and headed
to her room.

Voices from Touya's room made her stop. Sakura stood a few feet from the door
for a few moments before she recognized the other voice. "Yukito!" She whispered
softly to herself. (It wouldn't hurt to see what they are talking about.) With
a shrug, Sakura crept to the door and rested her ear on the wood.

"Sakura has changed a lot over the years..."

"Yeah, she isn't as much of a monster as she used to be!"

"No, not like that. She has changed mentally and physically."

Sakura began to blush as he heard Yukito's words. She never knew he had looked
at her in a way to notice her physical changes.

"I don't think you fully understand her Yukito. She is a little monster, just...
a bit nicer these days."

"Well, I think I need to be going now. I'll walk myself out. Ja ne!"

"Ja ne, Yukito!"

"Ah!" Sakura yelped. She turned as fast as she could and tried to make it to
her room before Yukito saw her.

"Sakura! Oi!" Yukito exclaimed from behind her.

"Oh... Konnichiwa Yukito-San." Sakura answered, turning to face him. "O-genki-desu-ka?"

Yukito smiled at her. "I am fine. And you?"

Sakura sighed. "Fine, but I have a lot of work to do. It's hard to keep up
with everything. You know what I mean, don't you?" Sakura looked up at him, eyes
glistening.

"I know exactly what you mean." Yukito agreed. "Would you like me to help you?"

(Yes! This is to easy!) Sakura thought evilly. "Only if you want to help me.
If you have somewhere you need to go, or something you need to do, then, I would
understand..." She said sadly, looking down a the ground.

Yukito shook his head. "I'll be happy to help you!"

"Really?" Sakura's eyes widened happily. "Will you really help me with all
my work?"

"Yup!"

Sakura picked up her backpack, which she had dropped in her attempt to escape
before. "Let's get started then!" She grabbed Yukito's arm and pulled him into
her room.

"What first?" Yukito asked while taking a seat in an empty chair next to her
desk.

Sakura pulled some papers from her bag and stood up, setting her backpack on
her chair. "Well... in choir, they are going to choose two people to sing a duet."
Sakura began. "And I really want the part." She explained.

Yuktio nodded. "What song did they choose?"

Sakura handed him the papers she was holding. "The song is called 'Life is a
road'. I wrote it myself." She added, her cheeks changing to a softer pink.

"Wow." Yukito flipped through the pages. "You are a good songwriter." He commented.
"How about you sing the part you want and I'll give you a few tips." Yukito handed
the papers back to Sakura.

Sakura sang through a few lines before stopping. "Well, what do you think?
Do you think I have a chance at getting the part?" She asked hopefully.

"Do you stand a chance?" Yukito copied. "You are going to blow everyone away
with a voice like that." Yukito shook his head, and looked back up to Sakura. "You
have the best voice I have heard in years. You are ten times better then Hikaru Utada!"

Sakura smiled even wider. "Oh, Yukito! You are so nice! I don't sound that
good!"

"Yes, you do." Yukito looked down at his watch. "Oh! It is later then I thought.
I have to go now." He stood and made his way to the door. "See ya Sakura!"

"See ya!" Sakura yelled after him. She shut the door and sat on the side of
her bed. (Oh, Yukito! You are way to nice!)

A picture of Syaoran flew through her mind. Sakura crouched down next to her
VCR and pushed the 'Play' button.

Syaoran's face appeared on the screen. His short brown hair blowing in the wind.
The screen suddenly froze. Sakura had pushed the pause button.

(He looks so young.) Sakura thought as she stared at the television. (What
does he look like now?) She wondered.

The screen turned black as she pushed the stop button. Sakura got undressed
and into her pajamas. She crawled into bed without dinner and fell fast asleep in
a matter of minutes.

"Just look at her!" Rika snickered. "She is such a loser, sitting there all
alone."

They all stared at the girl with short brown hair, wearing a blue school uniform,
sitting against a tree by herself.

"I know!" Raoko chimed in. "Isn't she that new girl?"

(That's me!) Sakura thought, as she saw the girl under the tree. (What am I
doing all alone? And why are all my friends making fun of me?)

"Yeah. She just moved here a while ago." Yamazaki explained. "She is in a
few of my classes so I know a lot about her."

"Even if it is her first day, she shouldn't just sit there all alone!" Chiharu
laughed. "She looks so stupid!"

They all continued to laugh in unison.

(Why are they being so mean?!?)

"Hey you guys!" Someone shouted from behind them. Tomoyo walked up and sat
down next to Rika. "Have you all seen the new girl?"

(No, Tomoyo! Not you too!)

Raoko nodded. "We were just talking about her."

Tomoyo's eyes lit up. "What do you know about her? You can't leave me bewildered!"

"To make it short," Yamazaki began. "She is a loser who just moved here. She
has no friends, and I heard that she is some sort of a witch or something like that!"

(No! t isn't true! Why would they say these things about me?!?)

The green-eyed girl stood up and walked away. Once she got near the door the
tears began to flow. She ran into the bathroom and locked herself in one of the
stalls.

Small whimpers escaped her throat as she cried. She sat there all day, until
the last bell rang and she went home, finally freed from her prison.

"I hate this place." The girl said to herself. "And everyone hates me!"

(They don't hate me! They don't hate me at all! They are my best friends!)

"Hey! Sakura! Wait up!"

Sakura turned around to see a young boy walking up to her. "Hello there."

(Is... is that Syaoran?)

Syaoran walked along side of Sakura in a slow pace. "I hear you're new."

Sakura nodded. "Yes, I am. My family just moved here a few days ago." She
explained. "This is a nice city..." Sakura gasped as she felt Syaoran's hands lock
with hers.

They both stopped walking, now facing each other. Syaoran held her hands and
looked her straight into the eyes. "You don't have to be so shy." He commented.

Time seemed to freeze. Sakura just stood there, not knowing what to do or say.

The sound of footsteps could be heard coming up behind Sakura. She turned to
see a girl, about her age, with dark hair pulled into ponytails running up to them.

(Meilin!)

"Oi, Meilin!" Syaoran said excitedly. He dropped Sakura's hands and walked
over to Meilin. "How's my girl?" He asked, rapping his arm over her shoulders.

Meilin smiled evilly seeing the hurt in Sakura's face. "I'm fine. What about
you?"

(Syaoran! No! How could you do this to me?)

Syaoran shrugged. "I was just talking to her." He told her. "She's new or
something like that."

"I... I have to go." Sakura stuttered. She turned and began running home.

Sinister laughter filled the air. Sakura stopped and looked around, trying to
see who was making that noise. She turned back the way she had came from and was
surprised to see that she was face to face with a brick wall.

"What's going on here?!?" She screamed, turning back the other way. Meilin
and Syaoran now stood in front of her. "Do you know what is happening?"

Syaoran and Meilin stood there, not moving. Suddenly, their eyes turned black,
their lips curled into evil grins.

Sakura's eyes widened in shock. "What is happening?!?" She shouted, panic filling
her with fear. "Why are you just staring at me?!? Why won't you move!?!"

Without warning, both Meilin and Syaoran burst. A small cloud of smoke rising
from the ground where their bodies had once been.

Sakura fell to the ground. She clasped her hands over her ears, shut her eyes,
and let out a deafening shriek.

A red cloud, the color of blood, swirled around Sakura's screaming body.

She stopped her wailing when she felt something-cold splash on her leg. She
looked down to see a small red spot of liquid on her left leg. That was when she
noticed the red spinning tunnel around her.

The fluids began to get closer and closer to Sakura. She stood up, gathered
her courage, and slipped her hand through the water.

"It... It's dry!" The brown haired girl noted. She could feel that on the other
side of the wall was air. "It isn't very thick." She told herself.

Sakura stuck her other hand through, then her right leg, and the rest of her
body followed.

"There is nothing here!" Sakura observed. All that was around her was white.
"This is getting really weird."

A small echo of thuds filled the never-ending white room. The sound continued
to grow louder and louder. A soft chuckle came along with the thumps.

Sakura's body tensed as he heard the laughter. It sounded so familiar, yet,
she couldn't put her finger on it.

"Scared, are you?"

"Who... Who said that?" Sakura squeaked. She then noticed a blurred shape in
front of her, quite a ways away.

The voice giggled softly. "It shouldn't be to hard for you, I thought you would
have noticed by now."

Sakura gave a confused look. "Noticed what?"

"That I..."

"Sakura!" A new voice shouted. "Sakura! Get up!"

The brown haired girl's eyes shot open. "What!?! Huh?"

Touya stood over Sakura shaking her shoulders to get her to wake up. "Finally!
You sleep like a log!"

"Sorry." Sakura sat up and rubbed the sleep from her eyes. "What time is it?"

"Well, lets just say you have about ten minutes until school starts." Touya
said. He then turned and left her room.

Sakura fell back onto her pillow. "It looks like it is going to be a long day..."

Authors notes:

Okay! I finally got it typed up! I have been so lazy! I have had this chapter
done for a few days now, I just didn't type it up ^_^;; I will try to get the next
chapter sooner.

Anyway, this chapter was a bit difficult for me. I didn't want to end it to
fast, but I didn't want to drag it on and on. So I kind of made the ending a bit
abrupt. I hope you don't mind. I will try to make the next chapter flow more smoothly.
I will also try to give other characters (Rika, Chiharu... etc.) more lines. (They
feel so lonely!)

Oh yeah, something I forgot to say in the first chapter: I don't own Card Captor
Sakura, I am just a fan. I do not take credit for any of the actions, characters,
or characteristics, they belong to CLAMP. yadda yadda yadda. You know the whole
thing. So don't sue me or nothn'.

Japanese:
Ja ne: See ya
Oi: Hey
Konnichiwa: Good after-noon
O-genki-desu-ka: How are you?

Next Chapter: Sakura spends the day pondering about this strange character she met
in her dream. Was she just something Sakura's mind made up? Or is she something
more? Could she have any thing to do with Clow Read? So many questions, but is
there little time?
