Chapter 20

Day by day, Sakura, Touya, Syaoran, Mei, Tomoyo, and Yukito
trained. Syaoran and Touya learned to cooperate with each other.
Everybody was satisfied, and confident that they¡¦ll be ready for the big day.
¡§Hey Touya, do you still want to know what happened at my apartment when
Sakura came over?¡¨ Mei asked.
¡§I think you¡¦re smart enough to know that answer,¡¨ Touya answered.
¡§Here¡¦s the video. Tomoyo recorded it for me. I promised Syaoran I
wouldn¡¦t record them, but I never promised him that Tomoyo couldn¡¦t record
it.¡¨
¡§Way to go, Mei. You better watch out Yuktio. Someday, she¡¦ll
outsmart you,¡¨ Touya laughed.
¡§Very funny. I¡¦m never going to let Mei Mei outsmart me.¡¨
¡§Better watch out Toto!¡¨ and she messed up his hair. Then came the
night before the Winter Wonderland festival/competion. Mei was sitting on
her bed looking at the sky glittering with stars, thinking <Soon...the time
will
come soon.....> Syaoran however, was sensing something. He decided to
call Sakura. ¡§Hello! This is Sakura!¡¨
¡§Do you sense anything evil?¡¨
¡§Actually, I do, and so does Kero-chan.¡¨
¡§I¡¦ll meet you at the Winter Wonderland. I think that¡¦s where it is.¡¨
¡§All right, I¡¦ll call Tomoyo.¡¨
¡§I think you¡¦ll regret doing that.¡¨
¡§Good bye¡¨ Syaoran was right. Calling Tomoyo was a mistake. She
made the most flashing outfit that Sakura has worn. ¡§Oh come on Tomoyo, is
it that necessary?¡¨
¡§Yes!¡¨
¡§Hooeee!¡¨ Suddenly, the snow of Winter Wonderland came alive! It
tried to bury everybody. Kero-chan transformed into Cerberus. Sakura used
The Fire Card, Cerberus blasted it with his fire ball attack, Syaoran was
using
his fire wards, and Mei was chanting incantations that created a fire whip.
When all the snow melted, everybody thought it was safe. It got worse. The
liquid became an ice serpent. ¡§Great, first a wad of snow, now an ice
serpent. What¡¦s next? A snow man?¡¨ Sakura cried. Unfortunately,
everytime it melted, it froze back. Later on, it started to attack with its
ice
beam. Even worse, it turned Syaoran, Mei, and Cerberus into frozen ice.
When all hope was loss, guess who shows up? Duh, Shining Angelina! She
flew over Sakura, and defrosted everybody. Then telepathicly, she told
everybody to attempt to melt the serpent once again, and leave the rest to her
to handle. Everybody did so, and then she cried, ¡§I call upon thunder!
Electrify this serpent!¡¨ Thunder struck the enchanted water. It wasn¡¦t dead
though. It was still alive, but just too weak to do anything but shake. ¡§How
are you going to get the stone?¡¨ everybody asked. Shining Angelina took out
a key. She began chanting, ¡§I hold the light and the darkness of my heart.
Power of the stars, power of the moon, power of the sun, I-¡¨ She was about
to say her name when the liquid serpent was still trying to free itself from
its
paralys. Everybody checked if it was still fatal. Angelina was still
chanting
on, ¡§your master, summon you, force ignite! RELEASE!¡¨ The tiny key
turned into a staff that was up to her shoulder. She flew over to the monster
and held the wand in front of her just like when Sakura was capturing a Clow
Card. ¡§Monster that terrified the people. Monster that wreaked havoc and
chaos to the world, return to your destined form, and be confined! GM
STONE!!!¡¨ Those magic words did it. A blue crystal came out of nowhere
and the serpent was sucked into it. ¡§Wow,¡¨ Sakura said. Angelina chanted
another spell that repaired the buildings and anything that was made of steel,
plastic, or manmade gunk. The only thing that was wrong is the fact that all
the snow and ice were melted. Angelina flew over to Sakura saying, ¡§I¡¦ll let
you handle this one Sakura.¡¨ She left as mysteriously as she disappeared.
¡§I
wish she would stay longer. I really miss her,¡¨ Kero-chan sighed.
¡§Don¡¦t worry. Remember the time we fought that vine monster while
we were in Hong Kong? She stayed a bit longer and told me, ¡¥When the time
comes, I¡¦ll tell you...it¡¦ll be soon....very soon......¡¦ and she was gone,¡¨
Sakura
said.
¡§Sakura, how are you going to fill this place up with snow and ice
again?¡¨ Tomoyo asked.
¡§That¡¦s easy......¡¨ Sakura answered, and she used The Snow card to fill
the Winter Wonderland with snow. Then she used The Freeze to make the
ice. ¡§You are so cute when you use the Sakura Cards!¡¨ Tomoyo sighed.
¡§Using The Freeze card to do ice sculptures of penguins and dolphins
was hard,¡¨ Sakura sighed. Then everybody went back home. For some
reason, Mei fell asleep on the way. Syaoran and to carry her home. ¡§I¡¦m
sorry little brother......¡¨ she whispered.
¡§It¡¦s all right, you better get your rest,¡¨ he said as he placed Mei on
her
bed. The next morning, was the Winter Wonderland festival. ¡§Oh no! MEI
WAKE UP!!!!¡¨ Syaoran yelled. Unfortunately, Mei was half sleeping and
half walking. At school, the team was really worried, so Mei just helped
making the cocoa instead of serving it. They were too afraid that she would
spill it on somebody. When it was afternoon, everybody finished their
waiter/waitress duties. All the students were to have a little fun with the
snow before the competion starts. Sakura¡¦s group however, were trying to
snap Mei out of her sleeping trance instead of making snow angels. The tried
snowball fights, and Mei ended up being knocked out when Yuktio threw a
snowball at her. ¡§Guys, do me a favor and bury me in the snow,¡¨ she
whispered. There¡¦s nothing left to lose, so they did. After a few seconds,
Mei woke up and was ready to roll. She accidently stepped into the ice rink,
and the next thing you know, she was slipping and sliding. ¡§Whoa, yikes,
eek! God help me!¡¨ Mei was in panic mode. She held on to the rail very
tight and slid to the exit. The other students that were doing better than
her,
were giggling. ¡§I¡¦ll show you! I¡¦ll-whoa!¡¨ and she slipped and fell. ¡§
Hey
guys look! There¡¦s a sign up sheet for individual competitions,¡¨ Tomoyo
said.
¡§Individual competitions?¡¨ Sakura asked.
¡§It¡¦s kind of like those extra credit events. These aren¡¦t team
competitions though. It¡¦s a one player. The rules say that only one team
mate from each group can join,¡¨ Yuki said.
¡§Cool!¡¨ Mei shouted. Everybody went to the sign up sheet to see if
any events interested them. Then they headed toward a booth to pick their
team name. Everyone decided their team should be called The Ice. Before
the competition started, each student must wear a uniform to clarify which
team they¡¦re on. Team Ice¡¦s uniform was sky blue. After dressing, Mei and
Touya began a private conversation. ¡§I was wondering for quite a long time,
did you get your 6th sense power back?¡¨
¡§Well, yeah, I did.¡¨
¡§That¡¦s great, I have a 6th sense too, except I don¡¦t see dead people.
And I have a feeling that your special power is gonna help us win out
competion.¡¨
¡§Maybe because you know that I have some magical powers because
I¡¦m related to Sakura. Plus that would be the reason why I signed up for that
particular extra credit event.¡¨
¡§Right on¡¨
¡§Knew it, just knew it.¡¨
¡§By the way, did you see the video?¡¨
¡§I still cannot believe that happened.¡¨
¡§That goes to show you that Sakura can handle on her own, and the
fact they are both SOOOO kawaii together!!!¡¨
¡§Oh brother, what about you and Yuki?¡¨
¡§That¡¦s none of your busienss.¡¨
¡§Then what about Syaoran and Sakura?¡¨
¡§Syaoran¡¦s my little brother.¡¨
¡§And Yuki is my best friend.¡¨
¡§Hurry up, the competion is starting!¡¨ And so the competion starts.
The first round was ice sculpturing. Sakura was a pro at this after last
night.
Tomoyo decided to sculpture the penguin at King Penguin Park. Time was
running out, and almost everybody is done. ¡§Oh no! Hurry up, we need to
finish the tail!¡¨ Sakura squealed. Unfortunately, the tail layed half
finished.
Three judges came and took a look. The first team (The Yeti [also known as
the abdominal snowman]) made a swan. It was beautiful, except for the fact
that its head was real crooked. 35/50 points for them. The next team (The
Serpents) made a dolphin. It had grace, it had quaility, it had 50/50
points.
So on with the next teams. Some got as low as 10/50. Then came The Ice¡¦s
team. Their half unfinished tail marked them off points, but since it was
mostly finished, and it was very well made with effort and every single detail
that was on the penguin at the park, they got 40/50. ¡§At least we tried,¡¨
Yukito said.
¡§Look on the good side, we¡¦re 2nd place!¡¨ Tomoyo shouted.
¡§I just feel sorry for the team that got 30/50,¡¨ Touya said.
¡§Hey, it¡¦s not the end of the world, there are other chances too,¡¨
Syaoran said. The next event was bobsled racing. The hill of snow was
looked steep and scary. Sakura
thought. The first to slide all the way down the mountain of snow will be the
winner, and will gain 20 points. ¡§On your mark get set go!¡¨ Bobsled racing
with more than one person requires cooperation, so...... ¡§Okay guys, left!¡¨
Syaoran shouted. Syaoran was particularly good at navigating, so everybody
voted him as the front. Half of the team didn¡¦t collaborate and their bobsled
flipped. The other half was doing well, it¡¦s just the matter of speed. The
Serpents and them were neck and neck. They were almost at the finish line.
Then the other team did one of the most lowest thing ever, they grabbed the
hind of the sled and pulled it, so they could get ahead. Fortunately, the
judges
saw this, and gave them a penalty. They took 10 points away from them.
The Ice gained 20. ¡§All right!¡¨ Sakura yelled.
¡§We¡¦re are gaining!¡¨ Tomoyo shrilled.
¡§Woo hoo!¡¨ Mei shouted. Half of the participaters were dismissed
because their team has the lowest scores, but each of the students got 5
passes to be excused from any homework (except major projects). Next task
is snow shoveling. The 50 remaining teams must dig their holes five feet
wide, five feet deep,and a shape of a circle. The point is, that you¡¦re
trying to
dig a nearly perfect circle that¡¦s five feet wide and deep in 20 minutes.
Dig,
dig, dig, and cheer, cheer, cheer, that¡¦s the only sounds you hear. When the
20 minutes were up, The Serpents won. The Ice was only 3 inches away,
unfortunately. The other team gained 20 points. Now they were in a tie.
There was only 4 tasks left until the individual competion. The next event
was snow fort building. Everybody was given 20 minutes to build it and a
supply of snowballs. Tomoyo had an idea, ¡§We can make a large fort. Then
we dig a hole in the middle to protect ourselves. The snow we dig out of the
whole could be used for snowballs!¡¨
¡§Great idea Tomoyo!¡¨ Sakura said. Then they started to get to work.
Across from them, The Serpents were building the largest fort of them all. It
even looked like a mini castle. They were given 14/20. ¡§Not bad, but this is
suppose to be a fort, not a snow castle,¡¨ a judge said. Large bummer is that
The Ice got 10/20 because, ¡§Good strategy, but you need to make it more
defensive at the top. Plus, your walls need to be more thicker.¡¨ Then they
were given 10 more minutes to improve their forts. Then the next duty was
snowball fighting. ¡§Here¡¦s how it works, each student is given a large red
plate (not the kind we put our food on) to attach it on their suits,¡¨ a judge
expained.
¡§This armer will turn blue when 10 snowballs had touched it. If the the
whole team¡¦s plates are blue, they will be taken away,¡¨ another judge said.
¡§There will be 5 rounds. After each round, we¡¦ll take a look at each
team. Each round is worth 10 points,¡¨ the last judge finished. Then the
fight
began. Mei, Sakura, and Tomoyo stayed in the burrow making snowballs,
and being safe. Syoaran, Touya, and Yukito was out throwing the snowballs
everywhere. 1/2 of the teams just stayed in their forts just to keep from
getting hit, so they could win. They were disqualified because they needed to
participate in the war. Now, there were only 25 teams left. The Ice and The
Serpents tied. Both of them gained 50 points. It was down to 2 of them now.
It was a relay. There were 6 sections. First section was ¡§Ice Hopping.¡¨
There¡¦s a large river, and there are 5 floats between. A teamate has to jump
from float to float to reach the next section. The second section was
¡§Digging.¡¨ Each player has a HUGE block of snow. They have to dig
through it to the other end. The third section was ¡§Slurpee Drinking.¡¨ You
guessed it, each player is to drink 3 slurpees (you don¡¦t want too much, or
they¡¦ll get brain freeze ^o^). The fourth section is skiing, the fifth is
moving
large heavy ice cubes out of the way, and the final section is to run toward
the
finish line. THERE THAT¡¦S EVERYTHING!!! NOW YOU KNOW!!! Mei
was starting the race doing the ¡§Ice Hopping,¡¨ Syaoran was to dig through
the heck of a large hunk of snow, Yukito was to (obviously) drink all the
slurpees, Tomoyo was to ski down the hill, Touya was strong enough to move
the blocks of icebergs (watch out Titanic!), and Sakura was to run (run, run
as
fast as you can! You can¡¦t catch her cuz she¡¦s the Card Mistress). ¡§Go!¡¨
shouted the referee. Mei jumped carefully, and swiftly. ¡§Dig little brother
dig!¡¨ she cried.
¡§Man, I always though snow was soft,¡¨ he complained. When he got
to Yuki, he handed him the baton (it¡¦s the little thing you have to carry
around
during a relay). Without looking up, he asked, ¡§Drink Yukito! Drink!¡¨
¡§Mmmm, these slurpees are delicious!¡¨ sweatdrop on Syaoran. The
other team mate was having a slight case of brain freeze. When Yukito
finished his last slurpee, he arrived on the mountain top. ¡§We¡¦re counting
on
you Tomoyo!¡¨
¡§Hai!¡¨ Because of her ski lessons she took when she was little,
Tomoyo skid down the mountain with ease. ¡§Go Touya!¡¨ He started to
move the blocks, unfortunately, the other player was getting ready to run.
Sakura was behind, but she got faster. Closer, closer she got to the finish
line. The moment has come, and she was reaching her arm out. IT WAS A TIE.

Yes, it was a tie. Both of the teams got 50 points. Unfortunately, The
Serpents has 164 while The Ice had 160. ¡§Hoooeee.......¡¨ Sakura sighed.
¡§Don¡¦t worry, there¡¦s always the extra credit!¡¨ Tomoyo comforted.
¡§Don¡¦t give up Sakura,¡¨ Syaoran said, as he hugged her from back.
¡§Okay students, we are down to 15 teams! The Serpents are currently
ahead. Now for the Individual tasks. It looks like 5 of our teams have to
drop out, since they didn¡¦t sign up for the extra events. Our first
competion is
trying to catch as many snowballs that are thrown at you in 3 minutes! The
10 students that wish to participate in this is: Alana, Megumi; Motoko,
Kotori; Kamui, Megumi; Alastar, Frank; Nanako, Ren; Taka, Kosuke;
Okata, Shouka; Koike, Kasumi; Tikasho, Nagi; and Kinomoto, Touya! (God
you have no idea how hard it was to come up with ten names that most of
them are suppose to sound Japenese.)
¡§Oh this will be good! You can sense anything that¡¦s coming at you!¡¨
Yukiro said.
¡§I know,¡¨ Touya replied. There was a snowball throwing machine
hidden in the snow. Touya closed his eyes to concentrate wher they are.
Then it started shooting him. Each time it was close enough to almost knock
him, he grabbed it just in time. The Serpents¡¦ classmate also caught all the
snow balls, and so did 5 other students. They were rewarded 10 points. ¡§All
right! My event is coming up next!¡¨ Yukito said.
¡§Hoe?¡¨ asked.
¡§I signed up for one of the events too!¡¨ he replied.
¡§The next event will be a marshmallow eating contest!¡¨ the announcer
said. Everybody sweatdropped. ¡§No doubt about it. We all saw that
coming,¡¨ Touya sighed.
¡§The players are: Nuo, Nikki; Zaku, Anton; Touka, Asuku; Ohu,
Kuta; and Tsukisiro, Yukito!¡¨ Everybody sweatdropped. They knew what
was coming. Yukito Tsukisito was known as the eating machine. They knew
that they wouldn¡¦t stand a chance against him. The Serpents though weren¡¦t
afraid of his reputation. At least each player was able to receive 1 one
point
for trying, 6 points for 2nd place, and 10 points for surviving to eat the
most
marshmallows. ¡§On your mark, get set, go!¡¨ There wasn¡¦t much to watch.
The Ice just sat back and relaxed. ¡§Go Yukito!¡¨ Sakura cheered. Chomp,
chomp, chomp, Yukito was hacking away. The other players were
speechless. Most of the players dropped out except for Ohu, Kuta. He was
from The Serpents. Kuta was also amazed by the boy¡¦s appetite. Yukito was
still munching, and he was already on his 10th! Yes, 10th bowl of
marshmallows! Ren gave up, he was a total eating machine. he thought.
There was a
brief silent as everybody gaped at Yukito. ¡§Woo hoo! You da man Yuki!¡¨
Mei cheered.
¡§Oookay, that was an interesting result. Yuktio Tsukisiro has won this
event, awarding him with 10 points. The Ice and The Serpents are the
remaining teams. The Ice and The Serpents tie! Which team will win? The
answer lays on our next event which is ice skating! The contestents are:
Ayuka, Lancome from The Serpents, and Li, Xiao Mei from The Ice!¡¨
¡§WHAT?!¡¨ some people shouted.
¡§Mei, what are you doing?¡¨ Syaoran shouted in panic.
¡§I¡¦m going to get ready for my next event. We get to pick a costume!¡¨
¡§You couldn¡¦t even stand on the ice! You slipped and fell on your butt
for crying out loud,¡¨ Syaoran said.
¡§I¡¦m going to still try,¡¨ Mei said, with a hurt look in her eyes. The
judges first saw Lancome ice skate. She skated to the song called ¡§Groovy¡¨
(1st ending theme to the CCS tv episodes). She wore a short yellow dress
with no sleeves. It had a bow in the middle, and glitter all over the dress.
She was okay looking. She twirled, she jumped, she did axles, and leaps.
Everything was perfect, except one of the judges saw her wobble ever so
slightly, and took off one point from her (score:49/50). Next came Xiao Mei.
Everybody giggled a little. She chose the song ¡§Catch You Catch Me,¡¨ (1st
opening for CCS tv series) and she wore the same outfit that Sakura wore
while they sang ¡§Catch You Catch Me.¡¨ (It¡¦s pink, and it¡¦s cute with puffy
sleeves, and a big bow in the midde. It also comes with a cute hat.) When
she started to dance, everybody couldn¡¦t believe it. Earlier, she was a total
klutz on the ice, but now she danced so graceful. She did triple axles,
leaps,
spins, and cute little tip tap moves. She moved through the rythem, got
through the beat, and didn¡¦t wobble at all. Because of this, she was given a
full 50/50. ¡§GO MEI!!!¡¨ everybody cried.
¡§You rock!¡¨ all the boys yelled. When she was finished performing,
people threw roses for her. ¡§Thank you!¡¨
¡§That was amazing!¡¨ Yukito said with a kiss on the forehead.
¡§All right! Settle down people. Winner of this event is Li, Xiao Mei!
The scores are 219 points from The Serpents, and with The Ice with 220
points! Barely conquering The Serpents, The Ice Team wins!!! And now if
you six lucky students step over here to pick your prizes. We have all sorts
of prizes. A three month vacation in England, a pair of Nike sneakers, a $50
dollar coupon to shop at the Cute Little Store, a video editing system (we all
no who¡¦s gonna get that one), a lifetime supply of Ramen (we all definately
know who¡¦s gonna pick that one), a season pass to Winter Wonderland, a 14
carrot gold hear locket, $1,000 dollars, a computer that comes with a scanner
and a printer, 2 telephones, or to be principal for a week at your school!¡¨
¡§Cool! I¡¦m picking the three month vacation in England,¡¨ Mei said.
¡§Lifetime supply of ramen for me,¡¨ Yukito said.
¡§The video editing system!¡¨ Tomoy cried with joy.
¡§$1,000 for me!¡¨ Sakura hooted.
¡§I need the Nike sneakers,¡¨ Touya said. Syaoran picked up the golden
locket, placed it over Sakura¡¦s head, and kissed her (and the crowd goes,
¡¥ooooooo.¡¦) ¡§For my love¡¨
¡§Thanks,¡¨ she was really blushing.
¡§Touching! Beautiful! Congratulations to each of you....especially to
the girl with the green eyes. You have a very good boyfriend. Enjoy your
summer folks, and stick around for The Night Jamboree.¡¨ the announcer said.
Sakura blushed, took Sayoran¡¦s hand gently, then he blushed, and both of
them walked hand in hand to join the others on The Night Jamboree......
