Chapter 4: Reception
Sukura was in the dressing room, taking off her veil and gloves
when Syaoran walked in. "Oh, hi Syaoran," she said
cheerfully.
"Sukura," he said, "sit down, please. I need to
tell you something." He then confessed what had happened
with him and Meilin
before the wedding. When he was done, there was silence. "I
knew it." Sukura said in an undertone. "I had a dream
about it. But --
did you kiss her or did she kiss you?" He replied, "She
kissed me. You know that I would never do something like that."
She
smiled at him. "Right," and they hugged.

The first dance was Still on your Side:
You found a place where you belong,
New friends who can do no wrong,
That's hard to believe.
But who gonna be there when you fall?
To build you up when you're feelin' small?
Give you love that you need?
Who will? I will!
When it's more than you can handle,
Ain't no lie! Doncha know that
I will stand up for you,
No matter what you're going through,
I'm still on your side!
Anytime, day or night,
Don't care if it's wrong or right,
I'm still on your side!
You wanna run,
You wanna break free,
But what you want ain't what you need.
Can't you see that I care?
I know I'm hard on you sometimes,
But when you're lookin' for the thing you can't
find,
Doncha know who'll be there?
Who will? I will!
When the whole world turns against you,
Ain't no lie! Doncha know that
I will stand up for you,
No matter what you're going through,
I'm still on your side!
Anytime, day or night,
Don't care if it's wrong or right,
I'm still on your side!
Etc.
(Minor note: SOYS is from the British band BBMak. I do not
own that song, no matter how good it may be!)

Sukura and Syaoran drank the 'three times three', according
to Japanese culture. Even though the rest of the wedding was
very
Western-style, Sukura insisted that they stick to at least one
tradition. The wedding gifts were exchanged. A pair of wind chimes
which were good-luck charms from Miss Mackenzie (Miss Kaho, if
you will), a wonderful photo album which would be perfect for
wedding pictures, and a lot of other beautiful items that would
come in handy, such as a blue-and-white spiraled tea set. Madison
and Eriol saved their present for last: A hotel room in suite
53 on the 19th floor of the Embassy Suites hotel in Readington
-- that's
Toemeda's name in the American version of CCS. As the bride and
groom walked to the limo, Syaoran stopped as though he
wanted to say something. Then he said, "Oh, what the heck,"
and picked up his wife (man, it's kinda weird thinking that the
S+S
are married, even though everyone wants them to be). After a
short trip in the white limo, they arrived at the hotel. The
newlyweds
went up to their room.
Man, it was elaborate. Next to the door, in a glass case,
there were a few small plants, some water and pebbles. The floor
was
covered with a beautifully colored rug. And the bed was a canopy
bed, with thick, wooden poles and curtains, giving Sukura and
Syaoran a little sanctuary, just for the two of them. The covers
on the bed were ivory colored velveteen, and diamond-stitched
with
lines of thin green silk with small leaves every here and there.
Where these lines crossed each other, a perfect, satin, 3-D,
reddish-pink rose bloomed in the midst of three green leaves.
And when Sukura sat on it, it rippled back and forth, like...
"Hey! It's a
water bed!" She squealed. Syaoran blushed to himself, thinking
of how darn lucky he was to have someone as wonderful as
Sukura for his soulmate. Going back to the description, the living
room was had an Egyptian-like chaise in champagne and a low,
Chinese-style coffee table. On the four walls of the bedroom
were Chinese prints of Good Fortune, Prosperity, Happiness, and
Longevity.
And all of those prospects, especially Happiness, would certainly
be with them in all the years to come. |
