“Ouch!” I said as I rubbed a huge bump on my head. I looked around and saw piles of books and papers on the floor. Then I saw another girl who was about the same age as me lying on the floor. My friends helped me up and I went to help her up. I asked,” Are you all right?”
She replied, “ I’m okay! What about you?”
For a moment, I took a good look at her. Wow, she must be one of the cutest girls around. She was about as tall as me, has long flowing white hair, with sea-blue eyes and has the fairest skin I had ever seen.
I nodded and said, “ Wow! I have never seen a girl like you with long white hair.”
We stood there waiting for her reply. But she stood there looking dumbstruck.
Tomoyo-chan asked, “ What’s wrong?”
She pointed at the direction of my wings and stammered,” You… you… are… o…one… of… the… Angels!”
Syaoran-kun exclaimed,” You can see them too?”
She nodded and said shakily,” Come to my house and I will explain.”
We began clearing up the mess that we had made just now…
After reaching and going into her
house… “Whew! Lucky my parents aren’t home. If they see you, they would probably die of shock! By the way, my name is Sakura Miko. Call me Miko and my surname is Sakura.” Miko-chan smiled weakly.
I started introducing ourselves and all of us, expect Miko-chan, sat down to talk. She walked swiftly to one of her wooden shelves and took out a thick and dusty book. Then, she began explaining, “ When I was little, my parents used to tell me about the legend of the Sakura Angels. Those who were chosen to be Sakura Angels will grow purple wings when the time is ripe. In this book, it is said that among all of the Sakura Angels. There’s one who will be the leader. That also means that the leader is the strongest one of all. And when the purple wings are fully-grown, they will be brought to another world forever. When they are gone, somebody will be replacing his or her places forever. These purple wings will take two months to grow. But the strongest one of all will only take one week for the wings to grow.”
She motioned us to crowd around her while she flipped through the pages to show us something. Finally she stopped and said, “ These are the pictures of the Sakura Angels that will be there. And they are born in that world and had never seen this world before.”
We scanned through the contents of the book and for the moment we were too shocked to speak. These pictures are the faces of all the people I know! Miko-chan sighed loudly and said, “ I knew your reaction will be shock. I know… These pictures are the people you know, right? They may look alike on the outside but their character is different. The person who will be replacing you will also have a different.”
Miko-chan began flipping through the pages and stopped again. She said, “ This is the page where people from this world who will go to the other world. Thrae is name of that planet.”
Slowly, I walked back to my seat and sat down. Why me? Why must I be chosen? So once I’m gone, somebody would take over me and I won’t be able to see my loved ones again… I won’t be the one walking with Yukito-san every morning. I won’t be the one wishing my friends in my class “ Good Morning!” Hot tears began streaming down my cheeks. I looked out the sky at the window. It’s raining. Would this be the last rainy day that I will see? Miko-chan said that the people in Thrae have different characters. Does this mean that my one and only Tomoyo-chan would treat me differently? I stared at my friends who are with me right now; I guess they didn’t know what to say.
Tomoyo-chan put a comforting arm around me and said, “ Sakura-chan…”
The more I thought about it, the more I would feel afraid and lonely. I could feel more tears streaming down my cheeks. I stood up abruptly and ran out of the house.
I began running on the path and heading straight home. Suddenly, I stopped and screamed, “ WHY! WHY MUST THIS HAPPEAN TO ME! WHY! THIS IS SO UNFAIR! WHAT HAVE I DONE WRONG IN MY LIFE! THIS IS MY HOME! THIS PLACE WILL ALWAYS BE MY HOME! AND NOBODY CAN CHANGE THIS FACT!”
“I know and I understand. And this isn’t your fault.” A voice said gently behind me.
I turned around with my face full of tears. I whispered, “ Syaoran-kun?”
Syaoran-kun walked towards me and said gently, “ Cry your hearts out, Sakura. You will feel better. ”
I rested my head on his shoulders and cry even harder. Then, I feel his arms around. He began pulling me closer.
I felt someone tapping me on my shoulder. “Onii-chan!” I exclaimed. And I felt Syaoran-kun’s arms began to let go of me.
“Sakura, what are you standing so close to that koso?” Onii-chan narrowed his eyes at me.
I lied, “ Err… The ground is slippery and I fell. Syaoran-kun helped me up.” I tried to look as innocent as possible. But Syaoran-kun was blushing away.
“And where’s your umbrella? Didn’t you bring one?” Onii-chan asked suspiciously.
“ Today we had to stay back after school to do a project. While Syaoran-kun and I are walking home from school, it rained. Tomoyo-chan was sick today so she couldn’t walk home with us today.” I lied again.
He said, “ Lucky I brought a spare one today.” Onii-chan took out one from his bag and shoved it into Syaoran-kun’s hands and said again, “ Koso! Take this and go home now before you catch a cold. Sakura, let’s go home now.”
I waved Syaoran-kun goodbye and we began to go home.
The next day in school… “ Morning, everybody!” I said to everybody as I came into my classroom.
“ Morning, Sakura-chan!” said Tomoyo-chan as I sat down.
“Hoe? Where’s Syaoran-kun?” I asked curiously.
“ He caught a cold from yesterday’s rain.” Tomoyo-chan replied.
Yikes! He got a cold all because of me! I said worriedly, “ Let’s visit him today.”
