"Lodica flouris quin wrtaq alb..." Sakura said. The flower began
to bloom, but it was going much too fast. Ms. Haaz was passing by
to inspect her progress. And *POOF* blue smoke and pollen
scattered everywhere.

"Ms. Kinomoto? Too much enthusiasm I see. You must really learn
to control your magic. What would your father say? I can't see
why you can't be like your brother, Touya?" Sakura glowered, why
was she constantly being compared to her brother?! Her brown
hair was pinned back from her face, her green eyes flashing
dangerously.

"My father would tell me to try harder." Ms. Haaz shook her
head. Ms. Haaz was an old woman with hard gray hair, and
was of medium height. Her eyes were a steel gray-brown,
at this moment they stared down at Sakura sharply.

"That's all you can do, try. If your mother were alive, she'd
have been able to help. She was the strongest sorceress alive.
Sometimes I wonder if your father did have mortal blood within
him. It seems to have rubbed off on you."

"That's just a rumour!!!! It's not my fault I can't control my
magic. It just won't listen to me...."

"You don't ask your magic to please do this for you... it's
your magic, it obeys you. You must command it!"

"But..."

"Well, I'm afraid if your marks won't improve you'll be stuck
in witchling level and never graduate to witch. From there,
you'll be a long way off to become a sorceress." She hung her
head, Ms. Haaz told her this almost everyday. "AND if you don't
stop getting into mischief, you may end up in reform school."
Sakura shuddered. Reform School!! No way, now how, not ever!
ESPECIALLY if she had to go THERE. The mortal realm.

"Do no worry miss. I will no get into any mischief." Ms. Haaz
smiled at her warmly.

"I certainly hope not." She walked away, leaving Sakura to
gather her thoughts.

"Now what do I do?" she sighed. Her experiment was ruined,
she failed anyway. So she excused herself and went to her room.

*SIGH*

"HEY!!! WASSUP!!!" Kero-chan, her familiar, pounced on her.
He was the size of a small stuffed doll. He had light brown
fur and pale yellow wings, with a long tufted tail. Sakura
had found him when she was about 5 years old, hiding under
her bed. He was Cerberus then, but now Kero-chan. Kero
had said that this form was not his true one, Sakura seriously
didn't believe that.

"Hey Kero-chan, I'm not in the mood to talk right now." She
flopped onto her bed and lay on her back. She leaned her
head on her arms.

"AWw... come on Sakura, why the long face? If it's any of those
girls again, I'll....I'll...!!!!!"

"It's nothing Kero... I just ... messed up another experiment."
In fact, Mimi and the other kids in the Academy hadn't insulted
her all day.

"Oh... I see.... I should help you on your spell casting I
suppose..." Kero flew in front of Sakura, arms folded.

"That's ok, it's my own fault, I should have been more careful
with my enthusiasm and speech. I overdid it just a little."
Kero looked very wooried, if Sakura didn't pass the board
exam, she'd be kicked out of the Academy.

"Kero-chan, I know what you are thinking, and no, I will not
fail. I just need to try harder, that's all.
I can do this, I won't disappoint my family." Kero landed on
her shoulder.

"I know Sakura, but you've just gotta try harder." She nodded,
and yawned. "Why don't you start by getting some sleep?"
Although it was the middle of the day, Sakura nodded, closing
her eyes. Kero managed to pull a blanket over her, and
landed on her dresser drawer and fell asleep himself.

~A FEW HOURS LATER~

*knock* *knock* *knock*

ZzzZZZzzzzZZZZ.....

*knock* *knock* *knock*

zzZZzzZZZZzzzzzz.....

*knock* *knock* *knock* *knock*

*POP* "Huh?!"

"Ms. Kinomoto!! you get out of there right now." It was Ms. Haaz,
Sakura jumped out of bed. Boy, was she in for it!

"Sakura? What's this all about? Can't a familiar get any sleep
around here?" Sakura was frantically trying to hide. 'Under the
bed, no... in the closet? no.... ACK!!!!

*~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~*
(indicates when an outside magic has been used unexpectedly)

*blink* *blink*

"Where am I?" She looked around her and found that she was in the
library.

"Hello Ms. Kinomoto." It was the librarian, Kaho Mizuki.

"Konnichiwa Ms. Mizuki!" 'What am I doing here? How did I get
here?' Ms. Misuki had long red hair and brown eyes, she was
a very gentle woman.

"I suppose you're wondering how you got here." Sakura nodded.

"Well I...."

"Ms. Kinomoto!!!! Where have you been?!" Ms. Haaz had found her!
Now she was in for it, she waited.

"Now, Ms. Haaz, no need to yell, this is a library afterall."

"Gomen Ms. Mizuki... but Ms. Kinomoto here, has skipped the last
3 classes. I'd like to know wht she's been doing all this time."
Sakura was about to say something, when Ms. Mizuiki stepped in
once again.

"She's been helping me sort the new spell books. And she seemed
a bit lonesome, so I offered to look for something to help her
studies. I gave her one called, The Starlight Power." Ms. Haaz
nodded. "She studied that for about an hour. I let her rest her eyes a bit on the couch." Again, Ms. Haaz nodded.

"I see, well then... do you still need Ms. Kinomoto's services?"
Ms. Mizuki thought for awhile.

"I believe I will need her for a more minutes, I'm terribly sorry
if it was any inconvenience for you."

"Oh no, none at all, there isn't any problem. Sakura, I trust
that you will be on your best behaviour."

"Hai, Ms. Haaz...." What was going on here?! Usually she'd be in
big trouble by now! And why was the new librarian covering for
her? What was happening?! Finally, Ms. Haaz quitted the room.

"Arigatou Ms. Mizuki, but why did you help me? It could cost
you your job!" She warmly smiled at Sakura, shaking her head, no.

"It doesn't matter, this job, Sakura..... it's you...." She broke
off there.

"What is me? What are you talking about?!" Just then, a group
of girls entered the library.

"Hey! Librarian! I need a book for my spellcasting class!"
Sakura knew that voice well, it was Mimi and the others.
Mimi had short blonde hair that curled at the ends and blue
eyes that seemed to be bored constantly.

"Kinomoto! What are you doing in the library....I know...hiding
from Ms. Haaz.... what a chicken!" The girls giggled, Sakura
glared at them, what a think to say!

"No, that's more your style Mimi... actually, I'm HELPING Ms.
Mizuki, something you don't know how to do." There, let's see
her try something now!

"Are you going to take that Mimi?" Asked one of her groupies.

"No, cause what comes out of HER... doesn't... doesn't affect me!"
But it did, whenever Sakura stood up to her, Mimi lost her
standing as the bully in the fifth grade.

"Well, you know, I don't have any time for this right now Mimi...
I have to be going now. Bye Ms. Mizuki.... thanks, for
everything."

"Good bye Ms. Kinomoto, and thank you for your help."

"I'm sure I am the one who owes you the thanks." They smiled at
each other, leaving Mimi's gang bewildered.

"HEY!! I asked for a bo...." Ms. Mizuki produced the book,
'A Novice's Guide to Spellcasting'. "Hey, how did you...."
Mimi shook her head, everyone around her was nuts, she was the
only sane one there.

"Have a nice day Ms. Landcaster..." Ms. Mizuki smiled privately
to herself.

"Whatever...come on girls, we gotta find Alan." They swept out
of the room, with their heads held up high.

Ms. Mizuki shook her head in disappointment. "Now I see the
relationshi between Mimi and Ms. Haaz...." She might have been
able to interfere with the little tift between Sakura and Mimi,
but she needed to make sure that she was the one. She needed
to make sure that Sakura could stand up for herself, and she
did so without resorting to magic. Mimi, on the other hand,
had started to build up her powers, if things had gotten out
of hand she would have had to interfere. Luckily, nothing went
wrong, and both girls got out safely.

~Sakura's Room~

"Hey there!!! Where'd you go off to?" Kero-chan called out to
her.

"Apparently I was in the library for the time I really spent
sleeping here...." Sakura seemed puzzled. Kero looked at her
suspiciously.

"What are you talking about Sakura? Where' did you disappear
to?" In which Sakura told Kero what had happened when she had
suddenly disappeared from the room. Kero looked just as confused
as Sakura. "Well, I can't make hide nor hair of it..."

"Neither can I..." She had been excused from her last classes,
and there had been no homework, she was free for the night.
Maybe she could practice her spells.

"Well, I think I'll get somemore Z's... g'night Sakura."

"'night Kero-chan." He settled in his little bed on her dresser
drawer.

She found that the book that Ms. Mizuki had said she was studying
from was sitting on her bed.

"Now how did that get there?" She dismissed it from her mind, she
guessed that somehow Ms. Mizuki had placed it there for her. It
made sense, if Ms. Haaz saw that she wasn't using the book, then
she'd be in big trouble, and so would Ms. Mizuki. "Oh well..."
She flipped to the cover of the book.

"The Starlight Power..." There was no author, publishing date,
nothing... it was an ordinary leather bound book. She turned
the cover and went straight to the first chapter. "Chapter 1,
the magic within you...." She read the first page, and immediately
fell asleep. What was with her? She had gotten 3 hours extra
sleep already! She told herself to wake up, but found that she
couldn't.

~ In Mimi's Room ~

She was pulling at her sleeves erratically. She seemed distressed.
"That Sakura Kinomoto, thinking that she's better than me...hmph...
I'll show her....I just have to think of a plan." She bit on
her nails while rocking back and forth. Anyone who saw her now
would assume that she was mad in the head. A dark gleam in her
eyes reflected her thoughts.

"I have it..." She laughed maniacally, something that was very
disturbing in an eleven year old.
