Quests and Trials

chapter 1

"They're coming...."

"What's coming?" Sakura asked.

She was standing on top of Tokyo tower looking at a
cloaked figure that was floating in front of the moon.

"Destruction is nigh. The hour has come. You must stop
them."

Sakura woke up with a start from her dream. It was
the fifth time she had dreamt this in a week.

"Arrrgh!" she screamed in frustration.

She looked at her clock. It was only 3:00 in the
morning.

"What you least expect. They will change their form.
They have come. The world is in danger."

"Who?"

"Tell the cherry blossom. She will join in the quest."

"Who are you?"

"That is not important. Destruction is near. Save the
world."

Syaoran woke in a cold sweat. He would be going back
to Japan.

"Sakura, you'll be late for school!" Aiden yelled up
the stairs.

"Hoe! Not again!" she yelled as she bolted out of bed.

She quickly changed and raced out the door Aiden
conveniently opened for her and grabbed the toast he
offered her.

He sighed. She was just like her mother.

Sakura dashed off to school on her roller blades in
record time.

"Ohayo Sakura!" Her best friend Tomoyo chirped.

"Ohayo!" all the other girls chirped in unison.

"Ohayo," she gasped trying to catch her breath.

Just then the teacher walked in.

"Class please take your seats. Today we have a new
exchange student in our seventh grade class. Some of
you may know him from Tomoeda elementary. Li Syaoran.

"Li-kun.."she whispered.

He was looking straight at her. She's changed so much.
She's so beautiful.

Sakura looked down shyly.He's change a lot. Even more
handsome! Tomoyo just recorded it all on her pocket
video camera. ow that Li's back, they can be a couple.
How kawaii!

After school Li was trudging slowly to his apartment
when he heard his name being called.

"Li-kun!" Sakura cried as she ran after him.

He turned around.

"Nani?"

"I just thought we could talk since it's been a long
time," she whispered.

"Okay."

They walked together towards the penguin park.

They sat down on a bench uncomfortably. It had been so
long that they had forgotten how to talk to each
other. Not that they ever did a lot in the past
anyway.

"So why did you come back?" she asked. She was
wondering if he still cared about her like he had said
when he left.

"Eeto, I.um." he stuttered.

They had not noticed vines slowly twisting their way
up their legs and soon they were trapped.

"Li-kun!" Sakura cried as the vines muffled her.

"Sakura!" He took out his sword (which he pulled out
of thin air) and chopped the vines off himself and
Sakura.

"Turn it into a card!" he cried.

"But it's not one!"

"It's the most effective way!" he insisted.

"But I don't know how!"

"Just make up a chant. I know you can. You are the
card mistress," his eyes softened.

"Alright," she whispered. "Dark force, return to a new
form, Sakura card!"

It was sucked into a card. Sakura looked at it
curiously.

"I did it!" she jumped up and hugged Syaoran. When she
realized what she was doing, she let go of him and
they both blushed.

Syaoran looked at the card in her hands.

"The vine," he muttered.

"What are you supposed to do with a vine card?" she
asked thoughtfully.

"I don't know," he answered and he walked her home.
Meanwhile in the bushes Tomoyo stopped recording.
Looks like card captor Sakura is back in action she
thought.

Two dark figures could be seen a little way off from
the battle scene.

"They destroyed it!" she said, outraged.

"Do not worry, it was only a trial power to see how
good they were. They will not be able to handle us
when we regain our full power,"the boy said.

His cold blue eyes gleamed in the setting sun beneath
the foliage of bushes.

"We'll get the cherry blossom and the little wolf. In
time, in time"

"Time that we must use sparingly," she added. "We do
not have all the time in the world."

"But we do. Do not forgot that we are immortal," he
smiled.

"But my patience is not infinite!" she cried.

He grinned wickedly. "Soon sister. We will get them
soon."
