Chapter 2 of Royal Luv:

In Prince Syaoran's room:

Prince Syaoran stood in front of his full length mirror and stared
nervously at himself.
*I could do this...I could do this...* He took a deep breath.

"E-hem. Good morning miss! What a lovely morning it is, indeed!"
Syaoran said in a perky-non-Syaoran voice. He bowed curtiously to the
mirror.

"Ha ha ha!!" Yue laughed uncontrollably. He doubled over in laughter.
"That is the most stupidest gesture I have ever seen you doing!" Yue laughed
harder and finally the laughter ceased. "Did you forget that she is a maid?"
Yue asked. "You can't be all polite to a maid. It'll seem... well...kind
of wrong." With that Yue took his daily fly outside.

Syoaran sighed hopelessly. He didn't know how to confront a maid. He
could ask a maid for a glass of water or something, but he knew if he asked
for a specific maid, Meiling would get suspicious.

*I guess I'm going to have to confront her at night.* Syaoran sunk deep
into his armchair. He closed his eyes and took a dreamless nap.

**~~~**~~~**~~~**~~~**~~~**~~~**~~~**

Midnight in the Maid's Chamber:

"G'night Sakura.Good night Kero." Tomoyo said drowsily as she drifted
off to sleep in her cot (It's a warm cot. Don't worry)

"Goodnight Tomoyo.Good night Kero," Sakura replied as she laid her head
into her pillow.

"G'night girls," Kero said from a worn out drawer. The maid's chamber
was silent except for the quiet breathing of Sakura, Tomoyo and the drowned
out snoring from Kero. (The other maids, Chiharu, Rika and Naoko are in a
separate room. And Takashi gets his own room.)

Meanwhile, in the hallway a dark figure tiptoed quietly to the maid's
chamber. He opened the door slightly to Tomoyo's and Sakura's room following
the Card Mistress' aura. He saw the her lying peacefully in her cot.

*Here goes nothing..* Syaoran thought (Yeah! I gave the "dark figure"
away) He bent next to the cot and nudged the card mistress quietly. Not
knowing what to call her, he whispered, "Card mistress! Wake up.." He
couldn't help noticing her smooth skin and her auburn hair. *What the hell
am I thinking?!* Syaoran mentally kicked himself for even thinking of how
beautiful and delicate....*Stop!!*

"Card mistress..." Syaoran mumbled again.

Sakura moaned. Syaoran nudged her. Slowly~ she opened her emerald green
eyes and they met with a pair of chocolate brown eyes. "Hoe!!..." Syaoran
quickly put his hand over her mouth. "Please...be quiet." Sakura nodded
looking confused.

Syaoran removed his hand. "P...prince Syaoran!" Sakura whispered. "Is
there anything you need?" Sakura stood up quickly and bowed her head.

"No. Please follow me...uhm..." Syaoran said, not knowing what to call
her.

"You could just call me maid, sir." Sakura said quietly still staring
sleepily at the floor.

"Your name." Syaoran demanded.

"It..it's Sakura, sir." Sakura replied barely over a whisper.

"Follow me, Sakura," Syaoran led her to his room and told her to sit
down.

"I can't and woudn't, sir." Sakura said.

"Syaoran." Syaoran said. Sakura looked up slightly, looking confused.
"Call me Syaoran. I don't like being refered to sir."

"Yes, sir...oh! I mean...uh..Sy..Syaoran." Sakura said stuttering out
his name uncomfortably.

"Keep your head up." Syaoran said. "Don't argue." Sakura slowly~
straightened her back and lifted her chin. "That's better." *Now what do I
do?...* Syaoran thought frantically taking quick glances at Sakura. *I wish
Yue were here. But he had to go and fly to who knows where! I guess I
should just go back to the point...*

"Prince Syaoran, is there anything I could get you?" Sakura asked
nervously.

"Uh..no! Uh...please sit down." Syaoran requested again.

"I can not sit when high class is around, sir...Syaoran." Sakura said,
almost craning her neck back to the floor, but quickly looked back up.

"Right." Syaoran paced slowly back and forth in front of Sakura.
"Uh...card mistress, that would be correct?" Syaoran querked up his
eyebrows (bet he looks so cute~ doing that) and looked at Sakura who just
fell into a chair in surprise.

"H..h..how...d.d..did y..you k...kn..know?" Sakura barely stuttered.

"That doesn't matter now. Uhm...well..just asking, how did you managed
as a card mistress. I mean, you did catch all the cards, and everything.
Right?" Syaoran asked. *Bet I sound real~ smooth right now.*

Sakura took a deep, shakey, and surprised breath and cleared her throat.
"Well, I did capture all the cards. Passed the judgement with Yue. I don't
know where he went to. After the judgement he disappeared. Eriol, the
reincarnation of Clow Reed, appeared as a prince from England. He helped
change the Clow Cards into Sakura Cards. And all the way, Kero helped me
out. That's pretty much it."

"Tell me the beginning." Syaoran said simply, sitting himself into a
chair.

"Well,..it started when..."

**~~~**~~~**~~~**~~~**~~~**~~~**~~~**Flashback**~~~**~~~**~~~**~~~**~~~**~~~

"Hey Tomoyo, I'm going to clean out the library, you could clean the
study!" 11-year-old Sakura said. (Yeah, I know, she's a maid when she's 11,
harsh...but..hey, there is a reason.)

"No problem." Tomoyo set out to wok with rags and sponges.

Sakura walked into the dusty library with her rags. *I can't believe how
dirty and big this place is! This is going to take forever.* Sakura got to
work and her went on her knees and scrubbed the floor. She worked her way up
to the bookshelves. As she was cleaning the third aisle of books, tenth
shelf, one of the books dropped.

"Oops." Sakura walked down the ladder she was on and picked up the book.
"The Clow?" Curiosity overwhelmed her and she opened the book. No words.
Just cards. Sakura picked up one of the cards and read at the bottom. "The
windy?" (I made her card mistress at 11 not 10. I wanted to make her a bit
older. And I hope you know what happens after. Cards fly, Kero
appears...yoo get the message.)

**~~~**~~~**~~~**~~~**~~~** End of flashback**~~~**~~~**~~~**~~~**~~~**~~~**
"...that's pretty much how it started. I caught the cards one by one
with Kero." Sakura said with a spark in her emerald eyes.

"Interesting..." Syaoran said, not being able to take his eyes off of
Sakura's.

Sakura looked away turning a slight pink. Syaoran looked down looking a
bit redder than Sakura. "Uhm..how about you, Syaoran?" Sakura asked
politely.

"uh..me? Well, all I could really say is that,..uhm...I'm part of the
Royal Li Clan and My mission, was supposed to be to make sure the cards were
captured. But since I am a prince, I wasn't allowed to go, and was told that
there would be a chosen card mistress or master that would do the job well.
I lived in hell since." Syaoran mumbed out his last line.

"That's a bit more interesting than my story." Sakura smiled. "I'm
sorry to leave the conversation so short, but I must be going."

"Uhm..yeah." Syaoran said, upset for some reason, that Sakura couldn't
stay. *What am I thinking again?*

Sakura bowed, "Good night, Prince Syaoran." Sakura walked out of the
door into the cool hall. She leaned her head back against the wall and
sighed. *I can't believe I was talking to the prince and about the cards!
Of all things..* Sakura thought. She walked stealthily back into the maid's
chamber and slept peacefully in her cot.

**~~~**~~~**~~~**~~~**~~~**~~~**~~~**

In Syaoran's room the next morning:

"You look dreamy today." Yue said to Syaoran. Syaoran looked up at Yue
from his desk. "Are you okay?"

"I'm fine." Syaoran replied and continued daydreaming about Sakura.
*Her emerald eyes....Her perfect, auburn hair....Her gorgeous smile...Then
again, what am I thinking?!* Syaoran stood quickly from his chair and
laughed uneasily. "I must still be sleepy! I'm going to go see how mother
is doing, and go take a walk."

Yue watched Syaoran fly out of the room. *He's so stubborn. Can't admit
he loves the Card Mistress now can he?* Yue snickered to himself.

All of a sudden, Meiling burst into the room. "Yue, where's Syaoran?"
She whined.

"I don't know, miss, probably walking around the castle.." *looking for
a special someone* Yue concluded in his head.

"Right." Meiling dashed out of the room with pictures of different
tuxedos.

Yue shook his head hopelessly. *Poor little miss Meiling. She doesn't
see her heart is about to be broken. It'll only be a matter of time.*

**~~~**~~~**~~~**~~~**~~~**~~~**~~~**

At a staircase/hall:

"I heard the marriage is going be in about a month." Tomoyo told Sakura
as they both began to scrub the top of the large and long staircase in the
west wing.

"A month?" Sakura asked. *It's not that far away. Prince Syaoran will
be married very soon.*

"Yeah" Tomoyo replied. She dunked her dirty rag in a bucket of water
and soap and scrubbed the next stair. Sakura did the same.

"So close and near..." Sakura mumbled under her breath.

"Did you say something?" Tomoyo asked.

"Uhm..nothing?!" Sakura scrubbed the stairs furiously on her knees. She
didn't see the spare rag lying next to her. Sakura moved while scrubbing, her
knee slipped on the spare rag and she began to fall down the stairs.

"SAKURA!!!" Tomoyo screamed.

"AHHH!" Sakura tumbled and fell down the long staircase. She rolled
herself into a ball and covered her head with her hands to prevent any damage
to the brain. "Ack!!"

Syaoran was passing by the bottom of the stairs when her heard Tomoyo
scream out Sakura's name. He looked up and saw Sakura rolling down the
stairs. He thoughtlessly ran as fast as he could up the stairs to break her
fall. Up ten steps, Sakura rolled into him and both of them fell down the
remaining stairs.

Sakura lay unconscious and laid on top of Syaoran who was dazed on the
floor.

"Sakura!" Tomoyo rushed down the stairs and toward Sakura and Syaoran.

Syaoran stood up and held Sakura's limp body in his arms. By then,
Chiharu and Takashi rushed in responding to Tomoyo's scream. "Sakura!"
Chiharu made her way toward Syaoran and Sakura. She bowed her head at the
sight of Syaoran. "Sir, we can take her from here."

"It's okay. I'll take her to her room," Syaoran said to Chiharu.
Chiharu looked at Tomoyo as if asking her, "Should we let him?" Tomoyo
nodded. They led Syaoran to Sakura's room and he laid her gently down onto
her cot.

"I'm going to call a doctor. Nurse her well until then." Syaoran
instructed and left the room.

*He really seems to care about Sakura.* Tomoyo thought, watching Syaoran
leave the room.

**~~~**~~~**~~~**~~~**~~~**~~~**~~~**

Late into the night in the Maid's Chamber:

"Uhh..." Sakura rubbed her eyes and sat up. "Rika?" Sakura looked at
Rika sitting drowsily next to her cot. "What are you doing here? What
happened?" Sakura's head hurt, and she rested it back on her pillow.

"Shhh." Rika said. "You fell down the stairs and was unconscious.
Everybody took turns watching you. You feel okay?"

"Yeah." Sakura said cradling her bandaged arm.

"Great." Rika said happily. "I thought you were never going to wake up.
I hope you don't mind if I go to sleep now. If you need anything, just wake
me up. Okay?"

"Sure." Sakura said and smiled at Rika. Rika went into her room.
Sakura closed her eyes. *I wonder if I'm going to see Syaoran tomorrow...*
Sakura smiled and went into a deep sleep.

**~~~**~~~**~~~**~~~**~~~**~~~**~~~**

Syaoran's room:

*Should I go? Should I not go? Should I go? Should I not go?* Syaoran
paced back and forth in his room.

"Why do you torture yourself so much?" Yue asked, leaning in his usual
corner by the window.

"What do you mean?" Syaoran said looking at Yue.

"If you want to go see how Sakura is doing, go!" Yue replied with his
eyes half-closed.

"But...but...what if she's busy?" Syaoran asked. "I dont' want to annoy
her."

"What could she possibly be doing with a casted arm?" Yue said.

"I don't know?!"

"Just go." Yue said. "Now."

Syaoran slumped with his frown and walked out the door into the hallway
toward the maid's chamber. *What am I going to say?* In a flash, he found
himself by the maid's chamber. He brushed his messy hair back nervously with
his hand and opened the door.

Sakura was sitting up in her bed, drinking hot tea and reading an old
magazine. Nobody else was in the room. (Kero's in the kitchen and Tomoyo is
working.)

Syaoran knocked on the door to get Sakura's attention. Sakura's head
snapped up. "Oh! Prince Syaoran!" She began to get up and greet him, but
Syaoran held his hand up.

"Sit down. Don't work yourself too hard." Syaoran said. He sat down on
Tomoyo's cot opposite of Sakura's. "So...how is your arm?" Syaoran asked.

"A little throbbing, but I'm fine. Thanks for asking." Sakura smiled.
Syaoran blushed. "I heard that you were going to get married soon." Sakura
said and hid her disappointment with another smile. *Why did I have to bring
that up?* Sakura asked herself stupidly. Syaoran looked down at the
reminder.

"Yeah." Syaoran replied dully.

"You're not happy?" Sakura asked. "I'm sorry! Did I hurt your
feelings?"

Syaoran looked up. "No! You didn't! Don't worry! Its...just..I don't
think the wedding isn't right..."

"Why not?" Sakura all of a sudden smacked her mouth with her hand, "I'm
sorry! I shouldn't be asking! It's none of my business!"

"It's okay. I'm glad I could have someone to talk to." Syaoran said
showing his rare smile. Sakura smiled back. (They do a lot of smiling.
keke) "I don't think Meiling and I were meant to be. The feeling is not
right. I dread the marriage. But if I tell that to my mother, she'd go
crazy over it and demand that I do marry Meiling. I guess I really don't
have a choice." Syaoran couldn't hide the disappointment in his voice and
slumped over.

"Don't worry." Sakura went over to him, and patted him soothingly on the
back. "I know that the person you love will love you back just as much. And
if you really don't like Meiling, you're never going to find yourself to say
'I do.'" Sakura smiled, blushing. *I'm giving advice to the prince, and
comforting him...what has the world come to?*

Syaoran blushed. He faced Sakura and smiled. "Do you think so?"

"I do think so." Sakura said confidently.

"Thanks." Syaoran said. "You look sad. Is something wrong?" Syaoran
looked at Sakura looking worried.

"No..it's nothing. I was just thinking." Sakura replied.

"Hey, do you want to go take a walk? You shouldn't sit here all day."
Syaoran suggested trying to change the mood a little.

Sakura's face brightened. "I'd love to."

Syaoran stood up and offered his hand. "C'mon." Sakura took his hand,
blushing, and got up from Tomoyo's bed. They strolled down the hallway
chatting like old friends. They went into the royal garden which was HUGE.

"So you were a maid for a long time." Syaoran said.

Sakura nodded. "When I was about ten or eleven. My parents couldn't
support themselves and me so the only thing they could do was to make me a
maid and send me away. I worked in King George's palace for five years, then
moved on to Queen Janna's castle for four years. Then I was sent with Tomoyo
to this palace."

Sakura and Syaoran walked around the garden looking at different flowers
and statues. Syaoran paused in front of a Sakura tree.

"Your name means cherry blossom, doesn't it?" Syaoran asked. Sakura
nodded.

Syaoran jumped high into a branch and picked the most beautiful flower
from the tree. He smoothly jumped back down.

"Wow." Sakura said in amazment. "You're really good."

Syaroan blushed. "Thanks." He took the flower and tucked it into
Sakura's hair. "Cherry Blossom.." He mumbled.

Sakura blushed. "Thank you." They walked all around the garden when all
of a sudden, Meiling appeared out of the bushes.

"There you are Syaoran." Meiling cooed. She frowned at the sight of
Sakura. "WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE, MAID?" She shouted. "AND WHAT ARE YOU
DOING WITH MY SYAORAN?!!!" She ignored Syaoran and looked straight into
Sakura's eyes. She pointed at Sakura. "You~~~ I hope I never see you again
with my Syaoran. EVER!! You're a maid. I pity you. But you have no right
to talk to a prince, as if he's YOUR EQUAL!!"

Meilng grinded her teeth. Out of nowhere, she slapped the cherry blossom
out of Sakura's hair. "No need to try to act pretty." Sakura trembled
looking at the ground.

"Meilng!!" Syoaran spat. He grabbed Meilng as she was about to turn
around and leave. "Apologize. Now!"

"I don't need to apologize to a maid. Especially one who hangs around my
fiance." Meilng shook Syaoran off and walked to the other side of the
garden.

"Sakura, I'm..." Syaroan never got to finish. Sakura ran into the
castle with tears overflowing from her eyes. She cradled her arm as she
went. She ran and ran and made it into her room. She laid in her cot and
let out all tears. *What did I do to Meiling that made her hate me so much?*
Sakura buried her face into her pillow. She still felt the place on her
head where Meiling slapped the flower.

There was a knock on the door. Sakura quickly wiped her tears and
squeaked out. "Come in." Syaroan came into the room.

At the sight of him Sakura's eyes felt watery. "Are you okay?" Syaoran
asked.

"I'm fine..." Sakura sniffled. Syaoran sat next to Sakura on her bed.
"I'm so sorry.... Meiling is just... self-conscious. A bit."

"She's not self-conscious. She's just in love..." Sakura mumbled out.
Tears unwillingly slid down her cheeks.

"Don't cry. Meiling didn't mean to slap you..." Syaoran was at a loss
for words. *How am I supposed to comfort Sakura?* He thought stupidly.

"I'm sorry." Sakura wiped her tears hopelessly, more poured down. "You
should go. Meiling is probably looking for you."

Syaoran hugged Sakura, and made her cry into his shoulder. "I'm sorry."
He whispered. Syaoran rubbed Sakura's back until her tears turned into
hiccups, and she settled down.

"Thank you." Sakura pulled away from the hug and looked up at Syaroan.
"Why does Meiling hate me so much?"

"She doesn't. She just thinks there is a big connection between us.
Don't worry." Syaoran smiled at Sakura. "Feeling better?"

Sakura nodded. "You should go now. Dinner will be served soon."

"See you around." Syaoran left the room. Sakura looked after him.
*He's a really nice guy. A prince, I mean.*

In the Royal garden, After midnight:

Yue stood in the middle of the garden in front of a statue of an anjel
playing a harp. He closed his eyes.

"I, Yue command you to rise." The anjel levitated from its base and set
itself down next to it. Yue looked down at the flat base. There was writing
all over it. "The prophecy..." Yue mumbled to himself.
The prophecy read:

Card Mistress/master and Royal blood shalt unite as one
Love as an unbreakable bond
They shalt face evil together
or they shalt face evil apart
for evil shalt be after the bond that holds two together
if not
it shalt be after the uncreated bond

"The prophecy must be fullfilled. If not, evil will get them, even if
they are apart." Yue commanded the angel to take its place back on its base.
"This may actually be the beginning of the end..."

Rain began to pour down on the castle. Lightening struck the clouded
sky. Yue flew back into Syaroan's room and thought to himself. *I wonder if
they'll ever make it...*

**~~~**~~~**~~~**~~~**~~~**~~~**~~~**

What do you think...c'mon...its not all that bad. Anyway, I made Meiling
look really bad here, but I don't think she's all that bad. So I'm just
exagerating her personality...for the sake of the story. So if you like the
story so far, you're a true pal! Two thumbs up for ya'll. bye-bye...
