An Unfinished Task: Part 2 Disclaimer: I do not own CCS. CCS is owned by CLAMP and a whole bunch of big companies that make tons of money from it. I am using their characters without their permission. Author's Rambling: Since this fic seems to be rather popular and well liked and people are responding to it, I'm actually motivated to write it. Well here is the next chapter of this story. It is rather introspective towards Sakura's thoughts and feelings. Not much happens in this chapter (as if anything happened in the previous chapters either ~_~;) but it gives you Sakura's perspective on things. I might get the next chapter out soon, but don't count on it. I have four exams this week that I have to cram for with each counting somewhere between 10-25% of my grade. PLEASE READ AND REVIEW! Translation Notes: Not many this time. Imouto - younger sister. ***************************** Sakura stared sadly out of the window at the starry night sky. Whenever she felt sad or lonely she always looked to the stars for comfort. As she stared at them looking for comfort the stars felt her loneliness and sent out their light to wrap around the young woman that held their power. Ever since Syaoran-kun left she had always felt like a part of her was missing. Sakura had never ever regretted anything before in her life before she met Syaoran, but now she had one regret in her life. She regretted that she had never told him that she loved him. She had realized her feelings for him too late. When she finally realized she loved him she ran to the airport just to see the plane carrying the boy she loved away from her. As she watched the plane take off she felt her heart break and she slipped to the floor into a small heap and cried her first ever tears of heartbreak. After she didn't come out for a while Touya finally came into the airport looking for her to find her sobbing softly. Without a word he picked her up and carried her home. Once Sakura was placed in her bed she just curled up into a ball to cry. Kero-chan had tried to comfort her, asking her what was wrong. All she could do though was hug his stuffed animal body to her taking comfort in his presence. Kero-chan just quietly submitted himself to her crushing hug, not complaining, and not asking any questions. Later that night, her father had entered her room asking her what was wrong. At first she hadn't wanted to talk about it, but finally she poured her heart out to her father. Fujitaka just held his sobbing daughter trying to comfort her in her heartbreak the only way he knew how. Once her tears were spent he dried her tears laid her down onto her bed. Gently stroking her hair he then told her of how it had felt to lose his wife, Sakura's mother, Nadeshiko. Sakura listened to him not uttering a word, but everything that he said comforted her because she knew that there was someone she could talk to that would understand what it felt like to lose someone you love that much. She forced a grateful smile onto her lips and thanked him softly. Although the smile was forced it helped to make her feel better along with comforting her father. Fujitaka left the room then to find an anxious Touya standing in the hall waiting to find out what was wrong with his beloved imouto. He could guess that Sakura's emotional state was somehow related to the Chinese gaki, but he didn't know how though he swore that if that Chinese gaki had hurt his sister in anyway he would fly all the way to Hong Kong to kick the brat's butt. "So what happened that caused Sakura to cry so much?" He asked his father his face contorted with worry. "Sakura-san has just lost someone that she loved. I believe his name was Li-san." Touya's eyes narrowed at the mention of the gaki's name and a vein popped out on his forehead. "She didn't get to the airport in time and the plane left before she could tell Li-san that she loved him." Another vein appeared on Touya's forehead at the news that his sister truly was in love with the brat though he had suspected that for a long time now. "I think she'll be okay, but she just needs time to recover from a broken heart. Right now it's best just to leave her alone." Touya nodded his head in understanding and left for his room to call Yukito to tell him about what happened at to get his help in getting his sister back to her cheerful self. In her room, Sakura could faintly hear her otou-san and onii-chan talking quietly about her, but she didn't mind. Tired from all her crying, she started to drift off to sleep as she felt a cool breeze stir around her like a hand gently stroking her cheek and hair. Just on the brink of sleep, Sakura heard a gentle female voice telling her, "Because it's Sakura, everything will be alright. He'll come back for you one day." Sakura smiled in her sleep as hope, that indeed someday Syaoran-kun would return and she could finally tell him that she loved him, filled her heart. Nadeshiko smiled as she softly kissed her daughter's forehead. "Don't worry, one day you will get the chance to tell him. I promise you that, my dear Sakura-chan." As time passed Sakura slowly became her cheerful self once more. She no longer felt like crying whenever she though of Syaoran-kun, but she could never really forget him like her brother and Kero-chan had tried telling her to do. Although as the time passed by Sakura became more and more like her old self as time healed her broken heart she also started losing hope that one day Syaoran-kun would return. She had tried dating several guys but it just never felt right. All the guys were really nice but none of them were able to give her the feeling of warmth, security, and completeness that Syaoran-kun had been able to give her. Sakura wondered now whether Syaoran still loved her or if her even still remembered her. Sadly she thought that he probably didn't. He was probably seriously engaged to Meiling now and probably didn't even think of her anymore. If he still had cared for her then he should have returned by now. Eight years had passed and she hadn't heard a single word from him. But then she reflected, maybe he hadn't returned because he thought that she didn't care about him. If that was the case then she seriously regretted not having told him that she loved him too when he had told her his feelings. If she had then maybe he would still be here with her and she wouldn't have this feeling of loneliness and incompleteness. True she had her friends and family but sometimes being with them and seeing them made her lonelier because she had no one. Tomoyo-chan had been a lot of help but eventually even Tomoyo-chan had found a boyfriend later on in high school. Touya had Yukito-san. Her father had her mother now that he had half of Eriol's power and could see her. Rika-chan and Terada-sensei had gotten married soon after Sakura and her friends had graduated. Chiharu-chan and Yamazaki-kun were now engaged. She was happy for her friends and family, but she also felt so envious of them. For some strange reason tonight although Sakura still felt the loneliness, it didn't feel so bad anymore. It started to feel like a part of her was being returned to her and she no longer felt sad or depressed when she thought of Syaoran-kun, but happy and hopeful even. She wondered what her change in mood meant, but decided not to think about it more. What was important was that she felt truly happy and complete again. She turned around as she heard Tomoyo entering their dorm room after returning from her date. Sakura gave Tomoyo a warm smile and beckoned her to be quiet as Sakura gestured towards a sleeping Kero-chan. Tomoyo nodded and the two best friends prepared themselves for bed. ***************************** Outside a shadowy figure stared at the beautiful figure standing
at the window staring wistfully at the stars. He reflected how
beautiful she looked bathed in moonlight and surrounded by her
soft pink aura. An aura that held immense power that he swore
one day he would take for himself. "One day I will have
you and your delicious power, my sweet cheery blossom. And no
one will stop me. You will belong to me," he said as he
smiled to himself and walked away after she moved away from his
sight. |
