Vine of Death
By: Patagurl grad2005
"SAKURA-CHAN!!!" Kero yelled at his sleeping friend.
"Huh? Kero-chan?"
"You're gonna be late, sleepy-head." Kero crossed his
small arms as he
floated in mid-air.
"Aw man! Kero, why didn't you wake me up earlier?"
Sakura sat up so fast
that she knocked Kero onto her desk.
"Well. we guardian beasts need our beauty sleep ya know."
"This is just great." Sakura rushed around her room,
gathering all her
necessities for school.
"Sakura!" a voice came from downstairs. "Touya's
left without you. Better
hurry up."
Sakura ran downstairs, grabbed her lunch and strapped on her
blades. "Bye
dad!"
She skated outside and finally caught up with Touya.
"Hey. I see that you found the time to be with me."
Touya said jokingly.
"That's not funny Onii-chan."
Yukito soon joined them. "Hi Sakura-san." He smiled.
Sakura blushed, "Hi Yukito-kun."
They rode along quietly until they got to school.
Sakura stepped into the classroom and greeted everyone.
"Hi Tomoyo-chan!" Sakura waved to her best friend.
"Hi Sakura. Guess what?"
"What?"
"Li hasn't arrived yet." Tomoyo pointed to the empty
desk behind Sakura.
"What? He's always so early." Sakura looked towards
the door.
All of a sudden, the door slowly slid open and there stood a
very sober
looking Li Syaoran.
"Whoa. What's with him?" Sakura stared at him. His
eyes were cast at the
floor and he looked very upset and annoyed at the same time.
"Hello class!" Their sensei had come in.
Li put his stuff on his desk and sat with his head lowered.
"We have a new exchange student today." Once again,
the door slid open.
Li sweatdropped as a young girl entered the room and ran over
to him.
At first she looked angry and then she looked very hurt. "I
thought that we
were going to walk to school together."
She walked up to the front as the sensei wrote her name down
on the board.
"Our new student is Meiling Li. She's Li's cousin."
Sakura turned to Li, "Wow! You're cousin and I still don't
know why you're
not overjoyed."
"You'll see." Li muttered.
As soon as she was about to say something, Meiling had gotten
between them.
"Listen very carefully sweetheart. BACK RIGHT OFF!!"
Meiling said.
Sakura sweatdropped and stared at Meiling.
*After school*
"Whew! The day is finally over." Sakura plopped herself
on the soft grass in
the schoolyard. Meiling had been on her case all day.
"It's great isn't it Sakura!" Tomoyo smiled at her
tired friend.
All of a sudden they heard some voices coming from behind a few
trees. They
went to investigate. There sat Li and Meiling. Meiling was fussing
over him.
"Uh. hi guys." Sakura greeted them.
"Hi Sakura-san." Li's face brightened up suddenly and
he looked at them.
"Hi." Meiling greeted her bluntly.
Sakura sweatdropped.
Then, Sakura got a chill. Li looked at her. He had felt it too.
"It's a Clow card." Li said calmly.
Sakura looked around and saw that the schoolyard was deserted.
She took out the key.
"Key of Clow, power of magic, power of light, surrender
the wand, the force
ignite, RELEASE!" The key turned into a wand.
Sakura took the wand and closed her eyes. "Over there!"
Sakura pointed a
bunch of overgrowth in the distance. The four friends ran over
to the bushes
and vines.
"Clow card, show yourself." The young girl commanded.
The card started attacking and vines flew everywhere.
"Jump, Release." Sakura said and got wings on her shoes.
She jumped from the
reach of the vines that were whipping at her.
A vine reached for her wand and it soon clattered to the cement.
Li ran over
and picked up the wand. The card had caught Sakura and Li quickly
took out
his sword. He tried to cut the vines but they were as hard as
metal.
"Oh no! It's the Vine card." Li looked worried. "Its
skin is as hard as
steel and once he's grabbed a hold of its prey, it won't let
go."
Tomoyo started to cry as Sakura was getting pretty beat up. The
vine soon
held Sakura, a vine by her neck and holding her arms and legs.
"Sakura!" Li called out. "Hold on!"
Sakura smiled slightly, "Goodbye Li, Tomoyo, Meiling. Good
luck with the
cards Li. Now I won't be in your way."
"You never were in my way, Sakura!" Li's eyes stung
with the threat of
tears. "I.I love you Sakura-chan!"
"I love you too Syaoran-kun." Her body seemed to become
limp in the grasp of
the vines.
"Noooo! Sakura!" Li couldn't hold it back any longer.
The tears streamed
down his cheeks.
He remembered how she looked when she smiled. He loved her very
much and now
that he finally had the guts to tell her, she's gone.
The vine card dropped her young body and all the vines broke
into little
pieces. It went into the form of a card and flew to Li's hand.
He slammed
the card into the dirt and walked over to the girl on the ground.
Meiling picked up the card and stuck it in her pocket. 'After
all I did for
Li back in Hong Kong, he loves some girl that.that's not ME.'
Meiling left
the yard and went back home.
"Sakura-chan." Li bit his lip as he looked at her lifeless
form. He paid no
heed to the blood that dripped onto his tongue.
Tomoyo stood right behind Li, crying her eyes out. The wand that
Li had
handed to her had turned back into the key and seemed to have
lost its
shine.
Two young men had stepped into the scene. Touya and Yukito.
Touya couldn't think right. He saw a lifeless Sakura on Li's
lap and Li's
sword nearby. The young man didn't even notice that the sword
didn't have
any blood on it.
He ran over with Yukito and picked Li up by his collar. "You
killed her."
Li couldn't make eye contact. He just loosened himself from Touya's
grip and
picked up his sword. He handed it to Touya.
"Kill me." Li said sadly.
"Gladly."
"Stop!" Yukito barged in. "Touya, look at the
sword. No blood! Li didn't
kill Sakura."
Touya noticed and dropped the sword. "I'm sorry Li."
Once again, Li picked up his sword and handed it to Touya.
"Kill me. I couldn't protect the one person I love in the
world."
"I can't do that Li." Touya said quietly.
Li grabbed the sword and was about to thrust it into himself,
when Yukito
grabbed the sword from him. Li's hands got a bit cut and blood
dripped out.
Yukito sprouted wings and suddenly turned into Yue.
"That won't bring Sakura back." Yue said.
"I know, but I'll feel better." Li said.
"She wouldn't want that." Li didn't answer.
A magic bowl positioned itself under Li's bleeding hands and
caught the
blood. Each drop of blood turned into a heart-shaped ruby. Li
watched with
wonder. Yue gave the bowl to Li.
"Let her eat them." Yue smiled and turned back into
Yukito.
Li put Sakura's head on his lap and fed the small rubies to Sakura.
They
melted in her mouth and went down her throat by themselves.
Li took the time to kiss her.
Sakura's eyes fluttered open and she slipped her tongue into
Li's mouth.
Their kiss deepened. They pulled away when they heard a fuming
Touya beside
them.
"You're alive." Li smiled a very rare smile.
Sakura nodded and they both turned around to a very angry Touya
and a Yukito
trying to hold his best friend back.
"If I ever catch you kissing my sister again, you'll get
it." Touya
threatened the young boy.
"Touya!" Sakura looked at him angrily but the frown
soon turned into a
slight smile.
"I'm going home squirt." Touya said to his sister and
then turned to Li. "No
kissing okay."
Li just grinned.
Touya and Yukito headed off leaving Sakura, Li and Tomoyo in
the yard.
Sakura and Tomoyo embraced each other.
"I was so worried about you Sakura-chan." Tomoyo cried.
"I'm okay now, thanks to Syaoran."
Li smiled, "You called me Syaoran."
"It's special." Sakura smiled.
Tomoyo's eyes glimmered and whipped a camera out from behind
her back.
Sakura and Syaoran hugged and kissed deeply again. CLICK
Tomoyo's camera went off.
The two lovers blushed furiously and ran after Tomoyo.
