The Aztec Calendar Sun Stone was used in ceremonies honoring the
sun god Tonatiuh . His face is in the center of the stone . Other carvings
represent the Aztec universe . The stone represent the days of the
Aztec month and religious symbols related to worship of the sun god .
Many archaeologists believe that Aztec priests placed the hearts of
human sacrifices on the stone .
