Laurie - My oldest sister

In November 2001, I expressed to my mother that the most wonderful thing I could get for Christmas was to be reunited with my sister Laurie. I registered with an adoption site, as a birth sister looking for an adoptee. On January 25th, 2002 I received an email from a woman in Stayner, Ontario who told me that she may have found my sister Laurie. As we waited to hear from Jane at Canadian Adoptees Registry, we hoped beyond hope that this would be a match.

Laurie had registered in 1987 to find her birth family. Imagine my surprise when shortly before midnight on that Friday night I was given confirmation that the match had been made and I was given a number to contact my sister at. I called and found someone I had longed for most of my life.
We still have lots of questions and we are enjoying getting to know each other,
and we thank God for keeping her safe until we could be together again.

Laurie in Hawaii

While I was searching for Laurie, she was vacationing in Hawaii. This picture was taken about four days before we were reunited.

We are all amazed at the family resemblance... but I suppose there is no reason to be. Although none of us kids look alike, we all look like one cousin or another. There are more pictures of Laurie on the Jennifer page. Jennifer was an added bonus for us. Jennifer is Laurie's almost 16 year old daughter.

Laurie - Hang ten and Hang Loose

This weekend - February 1st 2002, my brother Wayne will pick Laurie up in Calgary and bring her to us in Kelowna. We are all on pins and needles in anticipation of holding her tight to ourselves. Laurie is also very excited about meeting all of us. Ma, Wayne, Jonothon and I will probably not sleep a wink tonight. I know that I have been rehearsing in my mind our meeting together for the first time in 41 years. My only regret is that our sister Kathleen will not be able to be with us this weekend. I guess our webcams will be doing double duty in broadcasting pictures to Kathleen and her clan.
