All the heelers are at the Imperial. Maggie and Tom are sitting the rest are gathered round the table.
PJ: A beer for Mrs Hasham
M: Maggie Hasham, it sounds so weird, doesn't it?
PJ: No, it sounds great.
J: So have you got a dress yet?
M: No, I haven't even thought about it, I didn't realise that this wedding thing was so enormous.
J: My cousin, when she got married…fifteen thousand the wedding was.
Pat: I won't be forking out that much, I can tell ya.
B: Rachel and I only spent five grand on ours.
T: We would have been lucky to spend a couple of hundred on ours.
J: What did everyone do? Bring a plate?
T: Yeah, virtually, yes.
C: That’s what we did and we got married right here but the grog was free of course.
PJ: So I tried to elope with her but she wouldn't get in on it.
M: (stands up) No, no, it took me long enough to get you to propose to me.
PJ: ohh (puts his arm around her and kisses her head)
T: (standing up) If I may be so bold and propose a toast to the bride and groom, well the future bride and groom. Look, I'm sure you know that we're all as pleased as punch and I'm sure I speak for all of us when I say that we wish you all the joy and happiness.
Pat: Arrh, they were made for each other Tom.
T: To the future bride and groom
PJ: Thanks, thanks everyone.
All: to the future bride and groom
(Maggie and PJ kiss)

PJ suddenly sits up in bed and Maggie wakes, also sits up. PJ is breathing heavily. Maggie puts a hand on his cheek.
PJ: arrh…oh, this dream, dream about you.
M: It's the same one.
PJ: (lies back again) arr, you okay?
M: Yeah, It's just a dream. I'm fine. (starts stroking the side of his face)
PJ: I'm glad you are. Oh, Maggs, that bastard.
M: It's the trial isn't it? It's having to look at Barry Craig in the dock everyday.
PJ: I just sit there and I think about , I just sit there and I think about what he did to that kid and how he tried to frame you.
M: He'll get what's coming to him tomorrow and then it'll all be over.
PJ: I just hope that bastard rots in jail.
M: While he's trying to stay sane you and I will be walking down the isle.
(Maggie and PJ smile at each other)
PJ: Nail him tomorrow Maggs, nail him.

Next scene is the court scene where they mange to twist Maggies words around which in turn ,the judge begins to doubt Maggie's "credibility".
After the hearing Pat, Maggie, her Lawyer(?) and PJ are talking outside about what he going on. Maggie's representative(lawyer) tells them that he has a witness, and not to worry.
Maggie and PJ are left alone.
M: Listen, why don't you head back to work?
PJ: No, I think I wanna stick around.
M: No, you go, do what you gotta do. I'm just going to sit here and watch this afternoon.
PJ: You know that he's going to go down, you know that. ( pulls her into a hug) So, see you tonight, ah? (kisses her head) Your place or mine?
M: Well it will be ours soon, won't it?
PJ: Yep.
(they kiss)
Both: bye
Maggie notices Melissa Reeves

PJ asks Tom to be the best man at the wedding.
Ben tells PJ that he'll help him if h needs any support.(with the Barry Craig case)

Court scene- the witness says that he can't remember anything and denies ever seeing Craig before.

Imperial.
Maggie tells everyone that she is going to find more evidence, PJ isn't very happy about Maggie getting more involved.
Maggie sees Melissa Reeves again.

Maggie's house.
Pat and Maggie are present. Pat produces Maggie's mum's wedding dress and she puts it on. She tells Pat that she thinks it is beautiful and wants to wear it at her wedding.

Maggie wants to go and talk to Melissa, PJ doesn't want her to go but she goes any way.

Melissa doesn't want to talk to Maggie and Maggie doesn't get anything out of her.

Station
Maggie talks to Tom about what she should do. She also tells him that she was offered a job, last time she was away. He tells her that everything will be alright and to wait and see what happens with the trial.
This is the end of the conversation
T: Yeah, oh, by the way, PJ's asked me to be the best man.
M: (smiling) I know
T: So I'll be waiting at the altar with him for you , well, in case he faints.
M: (laughs) yeah.

Station
Melissa Reives comes into the station and shows Maggie and PJ some drugs that Jason had given to her to look after as "insurance".

Court
Maggie and PJ bring in the information that Jason's fingerprints along with Craig's fingerprints were found on the packet holding the drugs.

Benny Matthews comes to Maggie's back door and tells her that Craig wants to see her in Jail.

Maggie visits Craig in jail and he gives her a computer disk with names on it.

Imperial
PJ: You wanna do deals with the devil Maggs, you are going to get burnt.
M: have you been following me?
PJ: That’s right
M: PJ, can't you just try and stay out of this?
PJ: Why are you doing this Maggie? Why are you doing this to us?
PJ: I don't have a choice, you don't seem to understand what's going ……
PJ: What is going on?
M: PJ, it's not dangerous and I'm being really careful, okay?
PJ: Careful? Careful? I just followed you from the prison.
M: PJ, the less people that know about this the better and I want you to promise me that you will not say a word to anyone about this. I will deal with it, okay?
PJ: No. No promises.

Late at night, the station
Maggie is trying to guess the password to look at the information on the computer disk. She hears PJ enter and turns it off.
M: PJ, what are you doing here? You should be asleep.
PJ: Yeah, well when the woman you are about to marry creeps around in the middle of the night and you think that there is a chance she might be killed, sleep isn't high on your agenda.
M: I'm fine.
PJ: Yeah, well that's great Maggs, that’s really good, because I'm not.
M: What I'm doing is not dangerous.
PJ: If it isn't dangerous, let me help you.
M: I can't. (She walks over to him) Would you please stay out of this, for me. Trust me. (Maggie kisses him on the lips.)

Station
They receive the news that Craig hung himself in jail.

PJ and Maggie talk until Mick comes. Maggie and Mick send PJ out of his office, telling him that they have to discuss the wedding secretly. Maggie gives Mick the disk and Mick tells her that if anyone knows she had the disk she would be in great danger. He tells her that she needs to go on Witness protection again but Maggie doesn't want to hear it. She doesn't want to leave everything behind.

Meanwhile PJ is standing out side his office door. Tom asks if everything is okay and PJ said everything is fine. PJ bursts into his office and tells Maggie and Mick that he realises that they are not talking about the wedding but about the case. Mick speaks to PJ alone and tells him almost everything, except about the Computer disk.

Mick tells PJ that Craig didn't commit suicide, someone killed him. Pat drinks. The rest of the heelers are looking at wedding cakes, Maggie isn't looking very interested so Tom asks her if everything is okay, she tells him everything is fine.

Mick, PJ, Maggie and a very drunk Pat arrive back at PJ's after the imperial. Pat tells Mick that he is good at his job, etc. He tells PJ to look after Maggie and he tells Maggie that he will be sober on the day of their wedding. PJ puts Pat to bed and Mick leaves. Maggie wants to go back to her house so PJ and her leave.

Maggie's house
They are sitting on Maggie's couch. They have arms around each other. PJ had his head buried in her neck and Maggie playing with his hair.
M: You sorted out your version of the vows yet?
PJ: My version of the vows is screwed up in the corner of my office along with 50 other versions of the vows I sorta tried to write. (kisses her neck)
M: (laughs) Well, maybe we should just go for the standard, because I haven't sorted anything out either.
PJ: Oh, no, what have you got?
M: I haven't got anything.
PJ: what have you got…..come on, try, try, try.
M: alright…I, I Maggie, take you, Patrick Joseph, despite your cold feet and the fact that you snore….
PJ: Hey, I don't snore.
M: You do snore.
PJ: I don't snore.
M: You do.
PJ: A little bit.
M:…to be my lawfully wedded husband for poorer, for pizza, for late night soccer…
PJ: Promise?
M: Promise.
PJ pulls out her left hand
M: What are you doing?
PJ: Just checking.
M: What for?
PJ: To see if you've got your fingers crossed, that’s all.
M: Oh? And what if I had?
PJ: Well, if you had I'm gunna have to fix you. (PJ starts tickling her and she wriggles in his arms)
M: Don't….
(Both laughing)
PJ: Hey.
M: mm…(they kiss)
PJ: Why don't you go and slip into something more comfortable, kid? (He puts on an accent and smiles at her)
M: Like my bed? (she playfully punches him in his mouth)
PJ: Yeah.
M: I'm gunna go and have a shower.
(PJ kisses her again and they get up. He picks up the wine and wine glasses off the table and walks towards the kitchen.)
M: PJ
(PJ turns around)
M: I love you
PJ I love you too.

Maggie goes to her bedroom. She puts on her dressing gown and takes off her ring. She has another look at the wedding dress, then walks to the bathroom. Suddenly the lights go out and Maggie calls to PJ, when he doesn't answer she turns the shower off. PJ sees the fire and douses a towel in water in the sink. Maggie opens the door and screams. PJ puts the towel over him and runs to her. The go into a room and shut the door. They try to open a window but it is locked, so PJ smashes it. Maggie jumps out, then PJ dives out, just in time, as the fire engulfed the room they were just in.
Maggie then remembers the dress and starts to run back towards the house. PJ grabs her and he struggles to calm her down. He holds her and they watch the house go up in flames.

Ben, Maggie and PJ enter PJ's house. Maggie realises that she has also lost her ring and starts crying again. Ben watches on as PJ consoles her.

Ben and Tom are at Maggie's house. They are told that the fire was not deliberate.

Station.
PJ gets Benny Matthews in and starts asking him questions, Tom pulls him out and tells him that he is being paranoid...and that the fire was an accident.
Maggie arrives wearing a shirt of PJ's. PJ tells her that they need to tell the boss what's going on because he is starting to think PJ is paranoid.
Jo comes into the station with Mick. She gives Maggie some of hers clothes to wear. Mick talks to PJ and tells him that he can't tell anyone about what is happening. He also tells him that the fire was deliberate that there is only one way Maggie can be safe. (implying wit protection) Mick then speaks to Maggie and tells her that she really needs to go on Witness protection for her own safety.

PJ's house, that night.
There are candles lit all around the room. PJ is opening a bottle of wine.
PJ: I was, I was thinking about the wedding vows. I was thinking we should probably work on them together. It's going to be a joint effort, isn't it Maggs?
Maggie is starring out the window.
PJ: I had a good thought about you mum's wedding dress. Now, it's not going to be a problem cause I'm going to dig up some old photos from Pat and we are going to be able to reproduce it perfectly. All I …..
M: (turns around). PJ, I love you and I love the people I work with too much to ever put you in any danger.
I can't marry you.
PJ: Maggs, don't.
M: I don't have a choice. I can't stay here, I'm going to have to disappear.
PJ: No (shakes head) No, we can work it out.. I can….
M: I can't marry you. (she starts crying) Maggie Doyle can't marry anyone because in a few days she won't exist.

Station
Maggie walks in.
T: Arh, did you get some sleep?
M: Yeah, a bit.
T: Have you filled in a requisition form for a new uniform?
M: Yeah, I've written the forms and the insurance claim and the house stuff, they are going to send over an assessor.
T: Are you alright?
M: Yeah, I’m fine, thanks.
PJ: Morning (he walks into the station through near his office) Maggie, can I have a word please?
M: No, I think you've said all you need to PJ.
PJ: Maggie.
M: Not now.
PJ: Yes, now. Now because this is ridiculous, you are making a mountain out of a mole hill. ( walks over to her desk)
(The rest of the heelers are scattered around the office listening to the argument, shocked)
M: PJ, you're amazing. You think that everything is okay because you say it is okay.
PJ: It is only a job.
M: No.
T: Would you two like to calm down a bit?
M: no, sorry boss, that is not the principal PJ. You can get a detectives job anywhere.
PJ: No, I don't want a detective job anywhere, I wanna stay here.(He walks back to his office, Maggie follows)
M: Oh, great, so what am I going to do when we are married and we can't work together here…..what am I supposed to do hey?
PJ: I dunno, I dunno.
M: Oh, I could get a nice little desk job over at St David's or better still I could retire and keep house for you.
PJ: Look, we have discussed this.
M: No, we haven't discussed it PJ. That job offer at the coroner court is a really good one and you can get a transfer to Melbourne like that.
PJ: Well what do you want me to do? I don’t know.
M: Well you could take what I want seriously for once.
T: Perhaps you two would like to close the door?
M: Thankyou very much for your consideration boss, it's nice to get some from somebody but I think we're finished here.
PJ: Oh really? Well what's that supposed to mean?
M: You know exactly what I mean. I am beginning to think that I am wasting my time.
PJ: Meaning?
M: Meaning that this whole thing was a huge mistake. You don't want what I want, we should just finish it now.
PJ: Maggie, Maggie. You are acting like a spoilt brat in front of everybody.
M: Oh am I? The wedding is off. If I had your bloody ring I'd throw it at you.
(turns to the rest of the Heelers) I’m sorry everyone.(turns to Tom) Can I speak to you in your office please?

(The heelers are shell shocked at what they had just witnessed.)

Maggie Tells Tom that she is going to apply for the job in the coroner's court. He tells her to be calm but she says that it is over ad there is nothing left to keep her in Mt Thomas.

Final scene. PJ is standing by a lake. Maggie walks up to him.
M: think they bought it?
PJ: Oh yeah, you pick a pretty good fight.
M: Oh PJ.
(PJ puts his arms around her and they stand together)
PJ: right now all that matters is that we get you out of here safely.
(Maggie nods)
PJ: Love you Maggs
M: :Love you too.
