The hearse carrying Mozart's coffin wouls likely have passed through here unescorted after obsequies at St. Stephen's to St. Marx cemetery some two miles away. Mozart's third class funeral was one of ten from the City on 6 December 1791. First and second class funerals were comparatively rare, about two thirds were third class while about a quarter were "gratis" (not pauper) ones.
