The Police hit-skip unit today was searching for a 1955 Buick, gray and white, with a damaged right headlight and fender as the auto that dealt death to a pedestrian at East 45th Street and Superior Avenue this weekend. Victim was James Conley, 23, of 1406 E. 49th street, the city's 336 traffic fatality of this year, compared with 26 deaths on this date last year. He was one of 4 Cleveland area residents killed in weekend traffic accidents. Conley and a friend had been at a cafe Saturday night and were heading for Conley's home when the accident happened. As they started to cross Superior the friends name who was with held by the police, saw an eastbound Auto bearing down on them. He screamed a warning and scrammbled back over the hood of a parked car to get out of the way. Conley however was dragged 100 feet. The car raced on, witness said and turned South on E. 47th St. then east on Payne. Police recovered a headlight rim and a fender ornament.
