Slayer Convicted In Second Degree

'LOGAN — Gay Stover, 32, Was convicted of second - degree murder here yesterday in the death of Ray Conley, 26, on July 26. Sentencing has been set for Oct. 9 at 9 o'clock. Judge C. C. Chambers said. Conley was shot near the Logan city incinerator. Found unconscious several hours after the shooting by passersby, he was taken to his home where it was not discovered until the following mourning he had been shot He died five days later in a Logan hospital. ..Stover claimed the dead man had twice gone to his home and created disturbances. The state waived the d e a t h penalty at the start of the trial after 18 prospective jurors said they opposed capital punishment.


Ray was the son of Garland (Scut) Conley and Jane (Duty) Conley
