A review by Bob Cranham that appeared in the Demo corner of "DEO"  magazine - around 1997 I think (?)

About the Reviewer - Bob Cranham

Broadcast credits include live shows, pre-recorded specials, series background music and documentaries for BBC TV and Radio, ITV and ILR, on shows like Wogan, Solid Soul, Cliff From Tile Hip, Jim'Il Fix It, Blue Peter etc.

Mr Pratt - a suitable case for treatment? I think so! Let us examine the facts.

He is the composer of songs like: 'Dobeedoroobarb', 'Watch out for the traffic' and 'Michael and Marjorie'. He lives in a place called Llanfairpwllgwyngyll. His cassette is recorded by 'Doesn't Sound Too Bad When Played in The Car Very  Loudly Productions.' He is a pastor! I rest my case.

However, Mr. Pratt, (or Adrian, as he prefers to be called during daylight hours) is living proof of the thin dividing line between insanity and genius.

This collection of songs, 13 in all, is simply the most refreshing, challenging and inspiring tape I've heard in years. It's full of life, oozing with commitment, incredibly inventive, played with conviction, sung with authority and not at all as crazy as it might first appear.

There is real insight in some of the lyrics. Designer Trainers, for example, was written in response to the story of a 13 year-old boy in New York who was murdered for his expensive shoes.

What is also extremely unusual is that this tape is 'not designed to be sold to anyone or even listened to by anyone in particular'! Why not, Adrian? Much of today's Christian music is produced by people churning out formula-written, computer-driven albums that seem to drag Gospel music to new lows of creativity.

You are here to help break the mold and create a much-needed new voice for a new generation of Christian artists. Bold words? Check them out for yourself.
