Never
to Forget
Done once
and hooked
It took just one look
One taste of pain
To lose what I’d gained
The unkindest cut
Made not through the gut
But across my life
Silencing the strife
The deepest pain
Never could be feigned
Wishing it would go
Back down to its hole
The bloodiest wrist
Can’t feel a mother’s kiss
Made by one hand, mine
Realizing that I’m not fine
The uncried tear
Hiding from the fear
Of being in the spotlight
And everyone seeing what’s not right
The first scar
Never to far
Where blade and flesh met
Never to forget
