I received my CDA in 1990 and I also have three ornaments in the NSTDP Smithsonian Project (the tin angel was featured in the Decorative Painting Soceity Publication). I have worked on a wide variety of painting projects. I have painted stage backdrops for the Lake Charles City Ballet Company, completed some free-hand painting on walls and furniture and now I paint miniature florals on vintage and antique pearls for collectors. I have always loved painting, flowers, and nature--with roses being my favorite. I also enjoy the needle arts and sewing, which introduced me to 'buttons'. After visiting an antique show and seeing the very old Victorian-type buttons, I knew I had found yet another 'hobby'. It was through this newly awakened interest, that I first began to create 'studio painted buttons' for the collector. Seeing the beautiful 18th and 19th centruy painted porcelain buttons that were priced a bit beyond my pocketbook, I decided that I could try to recreate the style on vintage pearl buttons, thus began my new 'career' as a 'studio button artist'. Over the years, many teachers have shared their knowledge and expertise in the decorative painting field with me and I wish to thank all of them. Painting roses was a passion, and I had to learn how to paint them. I am still learning and hope to continue to learn and grow in my art. I have also learned 'computer', well almost learned it! And to that, I discovered how to do a 'home web page' on the Internet. You are welcome to visit my web site. It is an ever changing canvas of flowers, Victoriana, painting, poetry, and oh yes, buttons of all kinds. There are links to other button collectors web pages, some of whom are also 'studio button artists'.
