Type Indicator® Workshops from COUNSELSOURCE ® |
The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) is one of the most popular personality instruments in the world today, and is often used by individuals for career development purposes.
The MBTI is based on the work of Carl Jung, a Swiss psychiatrist, and was further developed by Katharine Briggs and her daughter, Isabel Briggs Myers. The MBTI was created in an effort to help people understand personal differences and appreciate the value of these differences.
The MBTI is about preferences--8 in all. It indicates which four preferences--one from each scale--make up your personality. |
There are 16 possible type combinations. No one type is best and no two people with the same type are exactly the same. Your four personal preferences, clear or slight, interact, and that interaction makes up your unique personality. The MBTI can be used to learn about yourself, your motivations, and personal growth areas in your life. Remember, the MBTI does not measure your abilities or aptitudes. It measures your preferences.
