Phantoms New Player

By Kevin Neibauer

Dennis Bonvie was recently acquired by the Philadelphia Flyers in exchange for Frank "The Animal" Bialowas, Bialowas was acquired by the Chicago Black Hawks and sent to the Portland Pirates of the AHL. Bonvie was sent to the Philadelphia Phantoms. Bonvie brings with him a reputation as being an up and coming heavyweight fighter. Dennis "The Menace" has already fought and soundly beaten the same man he was traded for, Frank Bialowas, Bilaowas was battered and bloodied after the brawl. Bonvie also is the only man to have cut Tie Domi, the two have fought a few times over the course of their careers.

Recently, while Bonvie was in the NHL with the Black Hawks, he fought Tony Twist of the St.Louis Blues. They went at it twice with Bonvie earning a loss and more recently a draw. Twist is the consensus NHL Heavyweight Champion. While Bonvie does not have a history of scoring many goals or points, he did score a goal in his first game as a Phantom. Bonvie also had a big hit or two and had a minor tussle with Justin Hocking. Bonvie now joins fellow tough guys Steve McLaren, Francis Belanger and Jesse Boulerice in the Flyers organization.

Of the three, Belanger seems to be the closest to the NHL. Belanger has shown the needed toughness and the scoring ability which could land him a 4th line job. Belanger has made a few rookie mistakes, but all are easily corrected.
