INTERVIEWING SUGGESTIONS...
If possible allow the subject (Interviewee) to have a copy of the questions you intend to ask them. This will give them a chance to think in advance of possible stories they wish to relate during the process of your interview with them. Make them aware of your intention to pass the results of the interview to the next generation of their family. The subject will want to relate stories of their youth, about their parents and childhood memories. If possible use old photos, wallet cards, membership cards, passports, licenses and perhaps scrapbooks and news clippings. These items will jog memories and can be a source of additional visual materials for laying down on video over their audio track. Road maps and an atlas will provide a visual source for birthplace and residence information.
