Pilipino Food

View of Samar from a Bangka boat Rice paddies north of Calbayog City

The Philippines is known for fiesta's and food. I remember how we would sit and listen to my Lola (grandmother) for hours as she told us stories of her islands. The music, dancing and celebrating all centered on a particular event.  Everyone prepared and shared. One day I said, "Lola I want to write down all of your recipes." She laughed as she prepared a light meal of fresh lumpia for our friends to enjoy on that warm summer day. Gazing out the window to the blue sky beyond, she started to tell me all the love and care she put into her food. After that, I spent my afternoons helping my Lola cook. I also helped eat these "Masarap na pagkaing Pilipino"
(Tasty Pilipino Dishes).

I have put her recipes together and I would like to share them with you.

Please excuse my mess. As I am building this table as you view.
