First
make sure
you
vacuum the
carpet the best you
can, pay special attention to get edges
and corners. If you have some bad stains
or
soiled
spots
use a good spot remover on them first to
try
your
best to
get the stains out before you proceed
shampooing. We
use a
175 r.p.m. rotary floor machine with a
carpet
shampooing
brush and a solution fill tank attached
to it
for
putting
our carpet shampoo and hot water
mixture.
Start at
the far
end of the room and work your way back
and
working
your
way
out of the room.Release an amount of
shampoo
(we use
dry
foam) to do a 4ft.X 4ft.section then
work the
solution
with
the machine left to right and up and
down the
release more
shampoo and continue. When a area about
200
sq. ft.
is
rotary shampooed it is time for the next
step
called
carpet
extraction. We put a extaction solution
cleaner with
a
nice
odor in our solution tank for spraying
down
on the
carpet
when extracting the area we just rotary
shampooed.
The
mixture is usually 2 oz. of cleaner per
gallon of
very hot
water. In the recovery tank that the
dirt
from the
carpet
and dirty water get sucked up in it is a
good
idea
to use
a
defoamer to keep the suds down so you
will
not have
to
empty the machine as often. Now start
extracting the
carpet
in the same area where you began rotary
shampooing.
Continue the 2 steps with the 2 machine
till
the
room is
completed. When you are done if the
carpet
has a
high pile
it is OK to use a carpet rake or comb to
brush the
pile
up.
If you want you can now apply a carpet
protector on
the
clean area we spray it on with a garden
sprayer. Let
it
dry
good before having a lot of traffic
tracking
on
it.
