Fig. 22 SECOND ROW: 8 sc in ch of 3 - and join with a sl st. THIRD ROW: Ch 1 - * 1 sc in 1st sc, always picking up the outside thread of loop - 2 sc over next sc - repeat from *, until the end of the row. THE NEXT THREE ROWS: Ch 1 - 1 sc over each sc of preceding row. If a larger ball is to be made, add as many more such rows as required. LAST ROW: Stuff ball with cotton and decrease. Ch 1 - * 1 sc over 1st sc - 1 sc over next sc - skip 3d sc - repeat from *, until the end of the row. Break off thread, leaving 1/2 yd; put this 1/2 yd through sewing needle and draw the last loops together - take crochet hook, pick up a loop of last row - and make ch 10 - knot ch of 10 once - and sew ball to bag.
Fig. 23 About 1/2” below this thread, wind over tassel another thread 10 times, tightly and evenly, which completes the top of the tassel; fasten this thread by passing it up and down in center of parts just wound. Make chain about 3/4 yd long - make simple knots in chain, about 2” apart - sew to bottom of wound part, making loops to the length of the tassel - this will give 4 loops of the chain.
Fig. 24 About 1/2” below this thread, wind over tassel another thread several times, which makes the neck of tassel - fasten this thread at inside of neck.
For cord over neck of tassel, make the following about 1” long:
