CLASS, W97M.CLASS
|
W97M_CLASS is a macro virus which infects documents and Templates created from Microsoft Word version 8.0. W97M_Class is polymorphic virus. It infects by adding its VBA5 (Visual Basic for Application) macros into the This Document module which is always contained within a template file. The virus has a variety of payloads depending on the trigger date and the variant of the virus. A displays the following message on the 31st of every month: This is Class Variants B and C displays the following message on the 14th day of any month after May: I think (user name) is a big stupid jerk VicodinES loves/Class.Poppy In addition to infecting and payloads,
the virus alters the registry information for Microsoft Word by modifying
the company name and owner name of the PC. Stealth techniques are also
present within W97M_CLASS making it difficult for users to see infections.
