THE TANNERY
Established 1978
RAW STAGE
The fresh Rawskins which are purchased from the Deonar Slaughter House at Mumbai are
selected by our purchase team and sent to our Godown at Dharavi in Mumbai. The
skins which come to the Dharavi Godown at midnight are immediately salted and
after eight hours the same are ripped open and resalted immediately. The skins are then loaded
into a lorry and an overnight journey by truck the skins reach the Tannery. The processing then starts
and the soaking is done in Drums. The tannery is a very modern tannery as it does not have any pits or paddles.
The tannery has 14 drums. All the processing is done with imported chemicals, dyes and finishing auxiliaries.
The soaking, liming and processing of the skins are done in the Drums. The
skins are first made into the coloured crust and then on shaving the skins are
toggled and the selection is carried out for the purchase team to know what is the outcome of the purchase.
FINISHING STAGE
The selected crust is then pigmented in the Autospray and then reshaved, drymilled
and finiflexed at the required temperature and then sent for packing.
SELECTION STAGE
The skins are then thoroughly selected under the watchful eyes of either the Managing Director or the Executive
Director of the Company. After the selection is done the skins are measured on
an electronic measuring machine. The skins are then packed into bundles of 1500
Sqft for export to various destinations in the world.
